Flap as SWBTS tries to rename its undergrad college (again)

Thought it could use abandoned former name of an Independent Fundamentalist school: "Texas Baptist College" (Bob Gray's outfit: "In 2012, Texas Baptist College was renamed Texas Independent Baptist Seminary and Schools.")

SWBTS's "The College at Southwestern", was renamed "Scarborough College" in 2017 during the Patterson regime. A few weeks ago, the seminary announced a new name for its college: "Texas Baptist College".


But it turns out East Texas Baptist University applied for that trademark first:

Issues arise regarding Texas Baptist College name

"ETBU filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the service mark 'Texas Baptist College' on May 13—one month before Southwestern Seminary filed a similar application. However, the seminary insisted it already had obtained from the State of Texas a 'doing business as' designation for the name before ETBU filed its paperwork."
