FLATTERING AND GREED
1Thessalonians 2.3-6
Again and again Paul warned and remanded readers of deceitful nature of many so called "preachers and teachers" who have their own agenda, plan, strategy, scheme and plot, for their own benefit. Paul always reassuring the church that nether he or any of his associates have anything to do with such things.
A word Greed in verse 5 particularly magnified the most common problem in almost in every church where collection of money is a major event and where is the teaching of Gospel is just for the show. Paul gave to flattering speech and pretext for Greed so much attention that he called as Witness the GOD Himself, in order to prove to Thessalonians that he and his companions never have such intent to flatter and to deceit.
WE AS APOSTLES OF CHRIST
1Thessalonians 2.6
Also, in verse 6 Paul said, "though as Apostles of Christ we..." Perhaps Paul generally describing all those his associates and helpers who were with him in his ministry. Despite the fact that most of the time Paul actually was the only one among others who actually was a true Apostle of Christ, personally selected by Christ and joined Apostles as the last 12th Apostle, Paul presented here a notion that it could be anyone as the Apostle of Christ who truly and honestly work for Christ just like he does.
This can be prove and explain by the fact that while Christ Himself chose 12, Christ also chose many others as well to spread His Gospel, and so, generally speaking, all those who work preaching and spreading the Gospel are in certain sense are the Apostles of Christ, or in other words, His workers and missionaries just like His 12 original Apostles.
Of course, Paul also may mean and other original Apostles of Christ by saying word "we," but Paul was only one who technically and officially was appointed as the Apostles for Gentiles and work among them probably more than any other Apostle of Christ.
WORKING AND NOT BURDENING ANY ONE
Thessalonians 2.9
And of course, Paul never forgot to mention how he and his associates work and support themselves by their own hands, doing all sorts of physical labor to provide for themselves, and at the same time finding time to spread the Gospel as the missionaries of Christ. (Acts 18.1-3, 20.33-35, 28.30-31) (1Thessalonians 2.9, 4.11-12) (2Thessalonians 3.6-12).
Paul always underlined importance of being self-sufficient and not to be a burden to any one, and Paul himself was very proud of it, showing good example to all that it is honorable and right for any true Christian no matter who they are, the teachers in the church or missionaries in far lands who support themselves and not a burden to anyone.
WORTHY OF GOD
Thessalonians 2.12
12. "so that you may walk (obey) in a manner worthy of the GOD, Who calls you into His Own Kingdom and glory."
Word "walk" means live and do everything in your life righteously and appropriately and worthy of the title of Christian and speak and do everything WORTHY of GOD. Life is a test, and GOD tests every thought and every word and every deed of every man and woman on Earth. GOD knows very well who is WORTHY of Him and who is not, but people do not know that.
The theme about WORTHINESS in the Bible is quite substantial, extensive, and very large, but the point and the meaning of WORTHINESS is always narrowing down to a single conclusion, what no matter what we do and say in our life we must do and say WORTHY of GOD, and nothing else.
