Feel sorry for him for what? It could have easily killed him. He has a rare opportunity to learn from his mistake. However, his head seems a few lobes short of a brain. 
I feel for him. He probably suffered being "stoved up" for quite a while.
"Stoved up"? I'm not familiar with that term.
