In a couple of days, the wife of my church's Music & Admin Elder ( www.lighthouseministries.org ) will be flying up to help the people in/around Ocean City, NJ, recover from the devastation left by Hurricane Sandy.

Although she is the mother of 5 (3 of which are still @ home), she volunteered to go w/ a Christian Relief/Recovery group that goes to various places where hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc., resulted in widespread damage/disaster.

In the past she served in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in a proverty-striken, majority Black community of Bay St. Louis on the MS Gulf coast.

In May, 2010, she was the area-wide co-ordinator for the Southeast Nashville Flood Relief Organization.

Now, she's headed to NJ because that's what she truly believes that God would have her to go.

Please keep this dear sister in Christ in your prayers because she'll be there...."As long as the Lord wants me there."

Thank you, Sister Thomas, for being "the hands and feet of Jesus" for His Name's sake!! :applause:

    Slight correction to the OP.....
She's ALREADY on her way to Ocean City (located just a bit south of Atlantic City, "the 'Las Vegas' on the Atlantic Coast"[!])!

God bless you & those whose lives you'll touch!! :praying:

I found out from her husband that the organization she's with is called Hope Force ( www.hopeforce.org )

As of last evening (11/7/2012) her daughter said that she hasn't heard anything from her mother as of yet---probably because her mother just hasn't had the time/opportunity to touch base with her home yet.

OTOH, I do know this much: Jesus knows what she, and all of those with her, needs.

He knows what those people affected by Sandy (and the nor'easter that struck close to that area yesterday) need too!

Please continue to pray much that God will work in the wake of this disaster to cause many to turn to Him in repentance and faith in the shed blood of His only begotten Son: Jesus Christ. :jesus:

    Thank you.

Just finished talking to my church's Music Director/Administrative Elder a bit ago.

His wife is now back home in Rutherford County--close to, as they call it, the "middle of Middle TN."

She's exhausted, but, as she told him, "It's a good kind of exhaustion."

In a day or so, she'll be back being "just" wife, mother, neighbor, and overall listening ear for those who have her at the top their "Prayer Warrior" list.

She'll tell us, "I was just doing my 'reasonable service.'"

But some how, I just happen to think that our Father in heaven has a little different outlook on her, though:

"Well done, My daughter! .... Well done, indeed!"

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for her and the many other Christians who'll probably never get more than a faint smile or a pat on the back from that stranger who lives along the south Jersey coastal area but whose lives they touched for Your honor and glory.

Thank you for allowing me to know this wonderful couple!

For the messy licks I got from that tiny, starving stray dog who just happened to have one of its one its legs broken while nibbling on the fragments of a quarter-pounder some tossed out their window on the street where they live on that cold night last winter, and that she picked up and brought inside and "adopted" as the newest member of her four-legged menagerie.

For the "accidents" on her not-so-immaculate floor that I had to be careful not to step into as I made my way through their 'lived in' front room where her 3 adolescent children's week-old socks that "they lost" are stuffed under the cushions and fill the corner of their room with that certain "ambiance" because the two of them didn't have a chance to "straighten things up" after spending the whole night at the hospital comforting their "wayward" neighbor two doors down from them while the doctors tried their best to save that man's son's life who fell victim to a gang-style shooting.

For the hours we've spent together on our knees praying for their OWN son who, when he turned 17, walked out on them and told them never to talk about Jesus again to him.

For all these things (and many more), "Thank You, Jesus!" for allowing me to experience what happens in their "real world" because, long ago they chose to step out of their "comfort zone" and put Your will for their lives first place on their "bucket list"!

This Friday (11/23) BOTH of the Thomas's will fly back to Ocean City, NJ, to go from there just up the Jersey coastal shore some 10-15 to Atlantic City (a/k/a "Vegas on the Atlantic Coast") to help the poor populace (most of whom, out of necessity, HAVE to work in the mob-controlled casinos [Kinda makes U wonder what the mob does w/the millions they make off of their casinos' profits, doesn't it? :tear:]).

She told our class this past Sunday of the many people living there that she & the faith-based group with which she was a part were able to help there in the past couple weeks who asked her, "WHY are U doing this 4 for us for FREE??!!??"

Most of us here in BB Land probably already know what she had the privilege of telling those people.

Please continue to lift up this couple (and the many others like them) who'll give up their extended Thanksgiving holiday season helping those people who really need it as the cold mid-Atlantic coastal season sets in.
