    interesting thoughts:

    1. they knew not what they did
    2. Christ asked for their forgiveness anyway
    3. Why ask that they be forgiven if they knew not because God didn't want them to know?
    4. In acts, the apostles go back and preach to the same people who crucified Him.

If there was any blinding on the part of God, it was so his plan could be done. but it still had nothing to do with those people's eternity. They were still offered the opportunity to turn to Him.
    Even Romans 11 says so.

    Luke 23:33-34
"when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him...
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

I asked about this Scripture before and they explained it this way:

Apparently this idea, that the intercession on the Cross was solely for the elect, is affirmed in the writings of one Rev. John MacArthur who commented that of course this prayer was not intended for "everyone who participated in Christ's crucifixion. Rather, it was a plea on behalf of those who would repent and trust Him as their Lord and Savior."

    " ReformedBaptist said:
Christ interecedes for His elect only.

    Calv1 said:
Christ only incedes for His elect. Christs prayers, unlike ours, are always efficacous....He prays night and day for His elect, no one else."

...and in the light of this:

9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me; for they are thine: Jn 17

    ...the Calvinists are spot on.

Are you so naïve to think that there were none of His elect involved in the crucifixion?

Grasp if you can the gist of this:

2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God. Jn 16

    ...and apply it here:

58 and they cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon the Lord, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. Acts 7

FYI, it was Christ that was speaking there also, NOT Stephen.

11 And when they lead you to judgment, and deliver you up, be not anxious beforehand what ye shall speak: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye; for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Spirit. Mk 13

THEY crucified him, then He said Father forgive THEM for THEY know not what THEY do.
It's pretty clear he was talking about all those involved.
