    “Proclaim Liberty throughout the Land”

    Leviticus,25:10

    Inscription on Liberty Bell

“We recognize no Sovereign but God,

    And no King, but Jesus.”

    John Hancock and John Adams,

    Signers of Declaration of Independence

“The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity…

I will avow that I believed and now believe

That these general principles of Christianity

Are as eternal and immutable as the existence and

    Attributes of God.”

John Adams, Second President in 1813 letter to

    Thomas Jefferson, Third President,

    Author of Declaration of Independence

    On July 3, 1776,

following the signing of the declaration of independence, John Adams wrote to wife Abigail,

“The second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as of the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.

It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever….”

“In regard for this great Book,

I have this to say –

It is the best gift God has given to men.

All the Good Savior gave to the world,

    Was communicated through this Book.”

    Abraham Lincoln, 16th President

I speak as a man of the world to men of the world,

And I say to you, Search the Scriptures!

The Bible is the Book of all others to be read

    At all ages, and in all conditions of human life;

Not to be read once or twice or thrice through

And then set aside – but to be read in small portions

Of one or two chapters every day,

and never to be intermitted unless by some overwhelming necessity.”

John Quincy Adams, U.S. Secretary of State,

6th President of the United States,

18 year Member U. S. House of Representatives and
Winner of Supreme Court Case U.S. vs Amistad

in defense of African uprising on slave ship

asserting human right of freedom for all

“Roll, years of promise, rapidly roll around,

Till not a slave on shall on this earth be found.”

“I have one great political idea…

That idea is an old one.

It is widely and generally assented to,

Nevertheless, it is generally trampled upon and disregarded.

    The best expression of it,

I have found in the Bible:

    “Righteousness exalts a nation,

Sin is a reproach to any people.”

    Frederick Douglas,

Freed Slave, Orator, First Black to Address Congress
