My parents met on the street. My mom's car broke down and my dad was the cop who came to help her. :)

My parents were both working at Sears in Winston-Salem, NC when they were introduced. My Mom was still in high school and my Dad was about to join the army.

My folks met in March of 1959 at a party.

My mother was 18 and about to graduate and my dad was 22 and was in the Air Force.

He came with another girl and my mother and her friends were not invited to the party, but they crashed it anyway to see if there were any cute boys there!

My dad's date looked at my dad when he saw my mother coming in. She said to him, "Well, I guess I won't be seeing you anymore."

He said, "No, I guess you won't"

My mother gave my dad the "run-around" for a few weeks, pretending he didn't existed, yet mysteriously showing up EVERYWHERE he went.

When he finally asked her out, they had to take a chaperone, my mother's cousin.

On their first date, when he walked both girls to the door, my mother gave her cousin the evil eye and she ran inside. My dad took a big gulp of air and told my mother that he loved her.

There were married seven months later in October of 1959. We celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year.

They met at a party thrown by a mutual friend.

My dad's father was a really bad guy and because of that, my grandmother wouldn't let my mother see him (even though my dad was a total opposite of his father).

So my mother saw him behind their backs, but never told him that they didn't want her seeing him and they ran off to Mississppi and eloped.

My grandparents came to love my dad very much and my grandfather served as a kind of surrogate father for my dad. Dad and Grandpa became very close and were inseperable for many years.

Mama was a professional rassler that went by the name Meaner Schnitzel. Pa was all atwitter when it was announce that Meaner Schnitzel was on the card at the Elks Club. Mama had Sweet Annie Althorp in a sleeper hold when Mama and Pa's eyes met through the smoke filled room. They say it was love at first sight. Mama insists she always had that look when putting someone in a sleeper hold. Nonetheless, they stuck it out for 61 years until Mama's passing. Was it love or was Pa afraid of feeling that right arm slip around his neck....

Mine never told me, and I never thought to ask. Personally I wish they had never met.

My parents were high school sweethearts, and started dating when my mom was 15 and my dad was 17. When my dad graduated, he moved to Washington DC for work, and sent a letter to my mom with an engagement ring taped to the letter.

    She said yes...:)

My Mom and Dad were sweethearts from the 2nd grade in a small town (Cuba, Illinios) At 18 my Dad went into the airforce but got lonely and asked her to marry him shortly after. She had begun nursing school but dropped it and tied the knot. Unfortunately, the the knot broke about 11 years later.

My dad was friends with some of my mom's brothers. They teased her about setting her up with Trotter so she was predisposed to not like him. They finally did go out and the rest is history.
