Greetings!
Been a Christian more than 45 years,
but up and down (mostly down); sorry my God.
I attend an Independent Baptist church.
When first saved started with the KJV but went to the moderns because the KJV is not in the people's language.
After moving from one version to another picked the NIV and stuck with it (30+ years) up until about a month ago.
I was in a Goodwill and found a World Publisher's KJV.
It was a barely used reference bible, bonded leather covers, with gold gilt and thumb indexing.
I thought to myself, "This is a nice bible!"
Then a thought came into my mind, "Would you like to read it?"
That thought came as a bit of a surprise because I'm pretty sure I did not generate it.
Since then I have been reading the KJV and with an overwhelming joy.
I have been looking online at KJV defenses and found this forum.
From the few threads read have had some strengthening.
Thank you forum members.

My dear forum members,

I would like to inform you that I took a completely unnecessary bath last month.

Yes but that one 45+ years ago and which was a necessary bath after salvation.
Thank you for responding Rob.

We have a forum for those who enjoy the fray tilting at windmills of translations. Enjoy it there. But if you go into any of our normal theological discussion forums on the BB, do NOT talk KJVonly anything or there will be consequences. Thanks for understanding the need to quarantine such teaching from real Biblical matters.

SGO, welcome to the Baptist Board.
Thank you for the welcome.
I did not take your welcome that seriously until the warning from Dr. Bob.
You have a chance of loosing your position by even associating with me, a man who got blessed by God for reading the King James Version.

Brother, you may not have understood my intent - when someone comes in and immediately "opens fire" in public with positions on KJV, I thought it appropriate in the same public thread to warn about the BB desire to quarantine all such discussion to one small area and not let it impact the rest of the BB.

It was NOT meant to offend, but an important reminder for you when you said you came here for "online at KJV defenses" (your intro). Enjoy your discussions on translations if that is your focus. You will see my name on the "rules" about proper interactions there.

I often use the KJV - when I memorize verses - it is only out of the KJV - only because for 30 years the KJV was the version most Christians. Yes, the King James can be blessing - just as most other MV's.

Here is the link for the rules that Dr. Bob mentioned:

Thank you for the clarification Dr. Bob.
But as I wrote you privately you could have contacted me privately as the pattern set in Matthew 18.
I am a new member and not familiar with protocol.

I know about being ANTI-KJV because I was.
Both sides lack the love of Christ.
However, you censor me not because I "advocate" the KJV
but because I post about my experience which actually happened.

I wont speak for Dr. Bob, but a PM is not necessarily needed as the info can inform other new members as well.

@SGO :

Welcome to the BB forums, sir.
You will find things friendly in some corners, not so friendly in others.

As you can see already, some subjects and their discussion are not tolerated in all areas by the staff, probably because things can get quite heated.
One of them is the so-called "KJVO" debate, while another is what is commonly referred to as "Calvinism".

I wish you well in your time here, and may God bless you greatly in your studies of His precious word.

Thank you Yeshua, (a very biblical name).

I realize from our past exchanges (since I first posted) that I have contradicted Yeshua!

However, to add another contradiction to the pile, I would say you are a little more than not just anti-KJVO.
Rest easy, the majority side with you.

I do also realize that you are my brother in the Lord so if I have ever hurt you I am sorry.

Think just about all posting here respect and at times have used the Kjv, just against the claims for it made by KJVO!
