I have always been in "full time" ministry. But sometimes only been PAID as "part time"!!

Wonder who here are full time paid Gospel ministers and who are bi-vocational. And who are not pastors but enjoy the discussions on this forum?

Full time speaker in conferences, meetings 1988-91

Part time mission pastor 1991-96 (worked for state of Wyoming)

Full time College Prof at Pillsbury BBC 1996-2000

Part time mission pastor 2000-present (work for wife's clinic)

And who knows what is next!!

    Hi Dr Bob,

I am but a young whiper snapper, and have only in been in the ministry 6 years. But have bee a full time Missionary / Pastor.

My income has been more or less part time. But my wife works part time so that I may spend all the time I need to for the ministry. In the beginning she worked two part time jobs. P.T.L for a wife that sees and does all that she can for the sake of the ministry. BTW for those that may not like this idea; she has never failed me, our children or the miniseries of the Church.

Was this on purpose? Because there is a lot of drama in this life, isn't there?

Bi-vocational here. I do work "full-time" as a pastor, but also work a job part-time as well to make ends meet.

I work 5 days every two weeks to support my family. My wife's responsibility has been to raise our children. Now that they are in school she has gone back to teaching to pay for the children's education.

I am neither at present, but would gladly be either.

But, God is faithful, and I know that He will open that door when it is His time.

    In Christ,

I work full time as an engineer.
Have been Bivocational Pastor and interim Pastor off and on since 1997. Left my last Church I was pastor of in 2002 but have done some fill in work and revivals since then.

I would love to be a full time pastor some day, but don't really believe that is my calling.

Full time pastor for 20 years. At times my wife had to work to make up difference by teaching school. Now things are pretty good although she still works as we have two children in college.

I over 30 years of pastoral ministry I have always been fulltime in ministry but as Dr. Bob noted, "I have always been in "full time" ministry. But sometimes only been PAID as "part time"!!"

As director of our state fellowship of over 100 churches here in Wisconsin a number are small and provide financial challenges for the pastors. Well over 20% are bi-vocational and that does not consider those whose wives work to provide insurance and a little extra for tuition, etc.

While pastoring I have had a morning paper route to help with expenses in what was ostensibly a fulltime ministry and salary. In some foreign countries I have visited, most all the pastors have fulltime jobs and pastor in addition.

It is great to know that no matter what, it is God who provides our needs. ;)
