The past four days or so have been interesting. I had been experiencing floaters and flashes for a few days and knew that I had torn the retina in my left eye. Two years ago I had a retina repair for my right eye.

So I went to Shanghai and Hong Kong and all over the place to attend to my vision. (Not the 'vision-thing' as Bush 41 had famously said.)

It normally takes about 2 and a half hours from Shanghai to Hong Kong. We were on the plane for more than 7 hours. Two of those hours were spent on the tarmac. Most of the rest of the time we circled the H.K. airport more than a dozen times.

Have any of you had a retinal repair? The surgery is relatively quick. I had two tears so it took about 12 minutes. The pressure and pounding of the eye-ball is quite the sensation!

So presently my field of vision is not clear --but in two weeks or so it should improve. Hurray!

Yep, approximately five years ago. Shiny light!
I felt the exam before and after was more uncomfortable than the surgery, which really didn't bother me at all. After all...shiny light! LOL
That thingie the doctor used to check before, and after to make sure there's not a new one is what I found really uncomfortable and what would make me not want to report new problems. The pointy thing he uses to push and poke all around your eyeball, making you look this direction and that, and if you flinch you get scratched. (I flinched and looked away and got my eye scratched!)

Heal up, and no jumping jacks! Or if you're like me, no slamming into walls and doors because you weren't paying attention and fell or forgot to open the door BEFORE trying to walk into the room...allegedly it's really bad for healing retinal tears.

Well, I wish someone would tell me how you tear the retina in your eye so I'll know what not to do... :)
