    Congressman calls for Bush impeachment

    The Associated Press - ATLANTA

U.S. Rep. John Lewis said Monday in a radio interview that President Bush should be impeached if he broke the law in authorizing spying on Americans.

The Democratic senator from Georgia told WAOK-AM he would sign a bill of impeachment if one was drawn up and that the House of Representatives should consider such a move.

President will not be impeached while the GOP controls the House.

Well, yeah, if he committed murder I think he would be impeached.

After I watched Tim Kaine defeat Jerry Kilgore this year in our governor's race, I am beginning to hope for a change in the House for 2006.

    Regards to you,

I think articles of impeachment would be submitted if they caught him in the slightest lie. He does not knowingly lie, you know.

Actually, Bush was following a precedent established by other Presidents, including Clinton, Carter, Lincoln.

The wiretaps were neither illegal nor secret

Don't confuse them with facts, GP. They made up their minds in 2000.

The amazing thing is I would bet that probably 99% of those who would love to see Bush impeached were dead set against the Clinton impeachment even though he straight up lied to a grand jury and obstructed justice. (that's not my opinion, that's the ruling of a federal judge)

He also won't be impeached because he has done nothing to be impeached for.

Hopefully he didn't actually realize what he had authorized in these cases. I suspect he did, but it would be difficult to prove.

Besides, he has Cheney as impeachment insurance. Who would remove Dubya, knowing Cheney was next in line?

He also pointed his finger at us on TV and said "I did not----- .

    A despicable example of CIC.

I think it is too early for impeachment talk. Whether he has done something illegal is questionable and is why Congress needs to investigate the President on this.

In case you missed it - As president, he has the authority to order the wiretaps. And there was congressional oversight, the appropriate senate committees were briefed all along, so the talk of "secret wiretaps" is bogus.

Wasn't it just a few Congressional leaders who were informed about these acts of illegal surveillance?

Do you need a link to count them yourself?

How many Senators are in the Intelligence Committee?
