Gabrielle Giffords on the 2ND Amendment

As a gun owner, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. In February, I was proud to sign the Amicus Brief in District of Columbia v. Heller asking the Supreme Court to uphold the lower court ruling that overturned the long standing DC gun ban.
This is a common sense decision that reaffirms the Constitutional right -- and Arizona tradition -- of owning firearms. I commend the Court for ruling in favor of restoring our right to bear arms."

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords

I agree with her on this. I'm also a supporter of gun ownership rights.

This is one of several things that makes me question Sarah Palins Sanity in that she would blindly target "Gabby" without considering the true color of the woman...

She was also a very strong supporter of Arizonas immigration law and border security...

It was **STUPID** of Sarah to include her!

Try to stay on topic.

Sarah Palin has less than nothing to do with the subject of the OP.

The 2nd amendment gives me the right to own the firearm of my choice

The 2nd amendment does NOT give me the right to discharge said firearm at my own choseing!!!

I didn't say it did

but

as in the case of Giffords---as well as other shootings turn public---there seems to be a mad rush by media to take away everyone else's right to the 2nd Amendment---when there comes along some nutt who flys off the handle and shoots somebody or somebodies

gun control laws, if I understood correctly, have provisions about "mental capacities" of applicants.
however, considering this shooter and the Virginia Tech shooter were both miserable "crazies" I suppose like everything else it's better read than implemented.

The anti gun crowd has already begun to move to take advantage of this tradgedy. The truth is many of them think anyone that owns a gun is already a nutball and is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, just like this clown.

Two bills I know of will be introduced soon to take our 2nd amendment rights away from us. Their shameless exploitation of this event would not be supported by the congresslady who is the victim.

That's one of the points of this thread.

Do you really expect them to go to a gun dealer and say,"I'm nuts. Wanna sell me a gun so I can kill somebody?"

If they have no record of being treated, who's to know?

No, which is why "official" crazies are supposed to be on the "no sell to" list. If all unofficial crazies were on the list then many Baptists would be limited to Whammo products.

Not being being a licensed gun dealer I do not have access to the list. And the list doesn't work in that direction. The dealer submits a name and the computed approves or disapproves the person.

How many times did you have to get turned down to find that out?

About the crazies not being allowed to have guns?

Unless they are cops that is.

The truth is, one well-placed bullet by an on-looker would have ended the gunman's spree after the first shot or two. Too bad we're now so politically correct in this nation that we no longer find the rights granted us by the Framers as important enough to us to take advantage of them.
