gas price

Hmmm, it hasn't been less than 2.75 here for months.

Local gas is running at about 2.79, and has been somewhat consistend for the summer (Katrina upped the price by about .06, but it's creeped down since).

But we also have our own refineries here in L.A. county, so that probably contributes to the more steady pricing.

The prices fluctuated up to above 3 dollars for awhile, but went back down after Katrina. Haven't looked lately to see what is going on, though Im sure they will go up again.

 

Better fill up before Rita! I'm anticipating at least a $0.50 spike even if no serious damage is done.

 

Rumors are flying around here in W Texas. Everyone is freaking out and filling up. I have heard rumors of $11.00 per gallon gas. The gas station guy just smiled when I mentioned it.

Probably wont sell a drop in a couple of days because everyone already filled up. I wonder how these rumors spread so fast. I live in an itty-bitty town oput on the boon docks of West Texas.

Well, I'm going to go out pretty soon and I'll go ahead and fill up. But I'm not going to stress about a possible gas price spike. If it hits $11/gallon we'll just cancel the cable and go back to dial-up until the crisis is over!

 

$2.85 here in WVa.

 

Town next to us, gas was $2.62 this morning. This evening it was $2.79.

In our town it has held steady at $2.69.

After the blurb I heard on CNN yesterday about $5 a gallon gas, I'm sure people are panic buying again.

 

2.43 yesterday, 2.45 today. I need to gas up the van before Rita gets here.

Our beloved governor here ms. Jennifer Granholm wants the feds to investigate oil company profits in the wake of Katrina.

I want them to investigate the windfall the State of Michigan recieved to the tune of millions of dollars since they didn't lower their tax percentages and made a bundle during the higher prices. Of course that is different since it is going to help our public schools. After all, plundering the coffers of the citizens is the bailiwik of the government, not to be relinquished to a mere corporation, even if Exxon's budget is probably larger than our state's. Might Jennifer do well to remove the beam in her own eye? Its rumored she is a good catholic, maybe she knows that verse.

 

I'd love to see it back down in the mid two dollar range! We are up to and past $3 a gallon out here on the west coast now.

 

Well Gov. Granholm can't be that good a Catholic, she supports abortion.

Here in Flint (which isn't to far from you) gas is around $2.56.

Here's my plan that will drive gas down to the mid-$1.50 range again-----but the whole nation is gonna have to follow Blackbird's lead

When gas hits around the $3.25 range here in MS---I will plan on "consolidating" my driving---

1)drive 15 miles into town only once a week instead of the usual 4-5 times----

2) fill up only when the gauge registers 1/4 tank or below

3) Kill two cats with one stone----do my church business and go "make groceries" at the same time while in town

But basically----what I think would get prices down is

1) Lower speed limits in interstates back to at least 60 mph

2) Plead with drivers to keep their cars tuned up----air filters, oil changes, spark plugs, keep proper air pressure in tires, etc.

Anything that can be done---reducing the "need" for driving--unless you absolutely and postively "Hafta" be on the road in a car---don't!!!! Walk or ride a bike instead---especially if you live in town---take the bus--anything that can be done where the driver is driving past more and more gas stations----more miles on fewer gallons.

 

Since our workplaces are 40 miles apart, we're kind of doomed to driving. I do my best to save gasoline, though, by driving at a moderate speed, not running my air conditioning unless I really need it, and only going shopping when I need to drive past the store anyways.

 

I just went out tonight and bought some gas even though I had more than half a tank because I'm afraid the prices will go up after Rita hits and I'm leaving town tomorrow morning for a conference gig. The 2 gas stations offering the lowest price -- $2.77.9 for Regular -- were crowded, and this was at 8:30 p.m. which is not a time usually when a lot of cars are getting gas around here. The others nearby had gas for $2.93 and $2.87.

At the one where I got gas, the owner was running around helping people even though it was all self-serve. After I swiped my card, he opened the tank cover and put the gas in, ran around helping others, came back and pulled it out. I guess he just wanted to keep things moving.

 

I'm "retired" but work "part time" as a "tanker driver", (SHELL) and as of 9-22-05, the "Gas terminals" in Knoxville Tn say they will be "out of Gas/diesel" when their tanks are empty, diesel ran out today.

Next week, they are not expecting enough "pipeline" deliveries to keep the terminals opened, MARATHON" has already closed their terminal.

"Finding Gas" is going to be the major problem, in addition to the price, if you do find it.

Trucks transport most "products", no diesel, no products, including food.

 

In Southeast Georgia, we're at about the 2.50 range. I ride my motorcycle as long as it's not raining.

Keeping your car tuned up and your tires properly inflated will go a long way in maintaing good mileage in all of your vehicles.
