    I am listening to "Crosstalk" on the Internet and they are discussing the Global Day of Prayer. Anybody know what is going on? It appears that many Christian leaders are involved.

    Here is the prayer that must be prayed at every assembly this Sunday.

    While I am not against prayer, per se;
    I did notice on one of those two links that the organizers didn't want any Bible preaching done, just prayer.
    This set off alarm bell #1.
    This is also promoted as a great big huge ecumenical thing.
    This set off alarm bell #2.
    This thing is also being promoted to "bring in" the Kingdom.
    This set off alarm bell #3.
    And...3 strikes and yer outta there!

    In HIS service;
    Jim

    I read through the prayer. It sounds like a good thing to me.
    Alarm bell one disputed: The prayer itself preaches. Did you read it?
    Alarm bell two disputed: Ecumenical is not a bad thing.
    Alarm bell three is something I have no opinion on.
    The only thing I'd be even slightly uncomfortable about would be the direct prayers to Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I pray to the Father in the name of Jesus, as the prayer model indicates. I do realize that it may not be a problem to also pray otherwise, but that bit of doubt keeps me from being comfortable with doing so.

    The people promoting this are part of that kingdom now/dominion theology kind of thinking (also ties in to the apostolic reformation movement). They believe that the church itself will embody Christ and cleanse the world for his coming. All kinds of bad beliefs behind this thing.

    Haven't looked into this a lot, but the person being interviewed said that some of the wording implied that this was a "Christian channeling of energies" like the New Age organisations use.

    Hmmm, not too surprising. This movement has a large mystical component. Some of the leaders are into the mystical teachings that are getting so popular now in the church.

    In the Apostolic Reformation movement (connected to Latter Rain/Manifest Sons of God/Kingdom Now/Dominion Theology), also known as the Third Wave, the subjective experience predominates over God's word.

    I was hoping you would reply Marcia, you seem to have an eye on some of these things that most Christians aren't looking into.
