Too bad this Republican administration didn't seen fit do at least outfit our troops correctly before deciding to invade a sovereign nation.

 

It is good at cutting taxes and lining the pockets of the rich.

 

Am I missing something here. Which soldiers did not have helmets? I have heard of flack vests only being given to trigger pullers but I thought every soldier had a helmet.

 

My mom was just telling me about this yesterday.

She'd seen a dad of a soldier on a talk show and his son wrote home asking for a modern helmet -- that his was not any better than WWII issue. Dad did some research and found what his son said was true. Dad has sent several boatloads of modern helmets over and Cher has joined him.

According to Rumsfeld, "troops are fungible."

Apparently, it's cheaper to send more over, than to buy all that expensive gear to protect them.

Amen. You'd think the upgraded helmets would be standard issue to troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. But they aren't. Rumsfled is a jerk.

This goes back to the Bush administration's policy that reservists are second-class. The regular troops in the US have the good helmets. But reservists in harm's way get the junk.
