    Ok.

I'm at the point where I think I need a good pastor's manual for weddings and funerals.

    Any suggestions?

I purchased the Nelson's Ministers Manual from Lifeway.

Christian Minister's Manual from Standard Publishing. Leather bound, looks great, and with two ribbon markers it looks excellent. Superb guide for conducting both services as well as a ton of other helps for ordinations, wedding rehearsal conductions, Lord's Supper observances, etc.

You could always try your Bible.

Jim Henry's, The Pastor's Wedding Manual is a great resource. Being that I've been doing this for over 20 years I don't use a manual anymore but when I first started it was a God send. No one taught me how do weddings or funerals in seminary. I had to learn the hard way and the Bible along with some good manuals helped tremendously.

Then you should study it. I have an onel but have never used it. Scripture is sufficient.

How so? From what passage(s) do you derive vows, unity candles, and the myriad other things that couples use in wedding ceremonies? Just curious.

I am genuinely curious. I never use a manual at a funeral or Lord's Supper, or wedding. I want people to see the open Bible. But that doesn't mean I didn't utilize a manual in the process. So I always want to hear how someone else has done it. Iron sharpens iron.

There's actually a wealth of stuff available for free on the internet. Some of it good, some of it not so good, and some of it absolutely terrible. But it's worth a look. I have some sites saved on my computer at the office and I'll try to remember to post some later.

    OK.

The Mrs. went out and got me the Broadman Pastor's manual.

I'm also getting Jim Henry's manual.

I'm also looking for some good pre-marital counseling material.
I will not marry a couple who I think will go together like
    nitro and glycerine.
