"What changed in the US with hurricane Katrina was a feeling that we have entered a period of consequences and that bitter cup will be offered to us again and again until we exert our moral authority and respond appropriately," he says. "I don't want to diminish the threat of terrorism at all, it is extremely serious, but on a long-term global basis, global warming is the most serious problem we are facing."

Please don't accuse me of making this stuff up. Remember, truth is stranger than fiction.

I don't understand what the 'strange' part is.

Gore believes that Global Warming is more serious than Terrorism on a Long term basis.

By the way, the link you gave starts in the middle of the article. The link to the beginning of the article can be found here <a href="http://www.theage.com.au/news/business/gore-makes-sustainable-investment-his-business/2005/11/13/1131816810708.html" target="_blank">

Global warming is a lie told by the evolutionists & atheists. They think since man created himself, he can somehow save himself from destruction.

I dunno about that, Bro Curtis. The issue of global warming has nothing to do with one's interpretation of Genesis, or one's belief in a higher power.

And it cannot be argued at this point in time that there is some evidence that supports a global warming theory. But the evidence is still subject to debate and scrutiny (part of the scientific method). Plus, the overall amount of evidence in support of gloabl warming theories is still small, and more evidence is at the point needed to suggest that global warming is likely.

That being said, if such evidence is discovered over time, and it passes peer review, there would be no theological reason for the Christian community not to accept it.

The global warming issue aside, we do know that our use of natural resources is at this point resulting in damage to our envoronment, and we cannot continue to use resources as we have to casually. I for the life of me can't understand why everyone doesn't recycle their cans, bottles, and newspapers (it's such an easy thing to do). But many of us do indeed recycle, because we know it's responsible. Many of us would gladly buy a hybrid vehicle if it were cost effective, even if ti were slightly more than a traditional vehicle. Many of us have made the choice to use compact flourescent lighting in our households. Many of us have made a conscious effort to by energy star appliances that use 1/3 less (or more) energy that traditional appliances.

And the list goes on, and on, and on. Are we to believe that conservation and envirnmental consciousness are a lie told by the evolutionists & atheists? Because that's unfortunately what many in the Christian community were indeed saying in the 70's. They turned out to be wrong.

What really gets me is the number of people would would happily say that Katrina is a message of wrath of God, but would never ever think that Katrina might be the result of increased gloabl temperature. I personally think both of those views are idiotic.

Hum... Well I am not a Evolutionists or Atheist, and I believe we do hurt our planet.

Not to the extent that we will "kill" the planet, we don't have that kind of power, only God will destroy the earth.

I guess the way I see it is like this.. Just as our body is a Temple, and we should treat is so, I believe the Planet&lt;earth&gt; was formed by God and we were put here to tend the earth until he takes us home. But just like our bodies, where we can do damage to it, smoke, drink, eat too much, I believe we can damage the earth also in a similar manner.

As I have stated before I am a fairly new Christian, so I don't know if this makes sense from a Biblcal stance of not, I will have to wait and see as I study it to see what I do learn.

My ideas now are just ones that I was raised with and understood from growing up. They could be wrong and my ideas might change as I study and learn more from the Bible.

I agree with most of that. What I don't agree is that global warming is a bigger threat to humanity than Islamofacism.

Gore is probably correct. Average person is more likely to be killed by a drunk driver than a terrorist. The storms did 100 times more damage than the attack on the towers.

Global warming seems real enough. The other planets seem to be warming at a similar rate, which of course eliminates man as a cause. The sun is warming significantly, causing warming of tropical waters. The waters warm at a greater rate than the poles, creating greater temp differentials, spinning off far greater weather anomolies. These big hurricanes and tornadoes are some results.

It is arrogant to think man can have all this effect on weather, or any measurable effect at all.

And we got a cheerleader instead ...the ultimate
girly boy...Georgy Bush...oh btw their are plenty of people dieing under the bush culture
you sure you want to talk about bullets not to
    mention 20,000 troops maimed.

Pretty good probability 9-11 would not have happened under Gore...he is a micromanager and
very inquisitive where bush was not...Gore would have called on the decision makers together and
gotten something done...all bush did was not to
be bothered on his vacation even after he read
    these immortal words.

"BIN LADEN INTENDING TO STRIKE IN THE UNITED STATES"

Terrible incompetence on Bushs part and his little 7 minute do nothing at the elementary school spoke volumes about the cheerleader who
thought he was a mans man but was still just a
    cheerleader. imho

If anyone who has a mental health problem and needs accountability it is George W. Bush.

Unbelievable statement AP. It points out only a single message, that you cannot stand the fact that America voted correctly twice.
Al Gore probably would have been the first president in history to have had to undergo psychiatric treatment. A very dangerous man. A man out of touch with reality, and I would extent that to one of the Republicans golden boys, J. McCain.

I ask, because as far as I know we haven't been gathering regular temperature readings from all over the surfaces of the other planets of the solar system for decades. And that's the sort of data required to get to the sort of conclusion you mentioned.

Seems like for every scientist that subscribes to the global warming scare, there's one that doesn't.

This argument is not settled by a long shot.

I think that is a wrongheaded statement considering that Gore was by Clinton's side while he failed to respond substantively to terrorist attack after terrorist attack against the U.S. during his presidency.

I think it is clear that the earth is warming. The question is how much of it is cyclical versus any that might be caused by mankind? I think it the former but I would not rule out at least a little of the latter.
