I'm putting together my notes on the Gospel of Matthew and gathering my teaching material as I begin teaching the Gospel in about month.
Here is a list of my basic, go-to texts (I know they are a bit eclectic).

Are there any others you'd highly recommend and for what reason?

*Exalting Jesus in Matthew, Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary by David Platt (2013)
    [Recommended class text]

*Matthew, Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament by David L. Turner (2008)
    [Primary Teaching Commentary]

*The Sermon on the Mount and Human Flourishing: A Theological Commentary by Jonathan T. Pennington (2017) [Highly recommended - providing an historical survey of interpretation and structure and a basic commentary on the SOM]

Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes, Cultural Studies in the Gospels by Kenneth E. Bailey (2008)

Teaching Matthew: Unlocking the Gospel of Matthew for the Expositor. Teach the Bible by David Jackman and William Philip (2003)

Matthew, Understanding the Bible Commentary Series by Robert H. Mounce (2011)

Matthew and Mark, Cornerstone Biblical Commentary by David Turner and Darrell L. Bock (2005)

I try to keep my posts short - although I don't always succeed

My handouts run about three pages for each session

They might not translate well into a BB thread

Then you're going to have to video the whole thing and post it on YouTube.
