The GOP can do much better than Gov. Palin in nominating a presidential candidate for 2012. If Palin is nominated, Obama wins another term.

So who would you reccommend?

As the only conservative in the race I would say she was better qualified than McCain, Biden or Obama, but there are other more qualified conservatives.

I supported Duncan Hunter in the primaries this last year and I think a Hunter/Palin ticket would be ideal.

No one can attack Palin's ideas they just want to attack the way she looks or sounds. And the liberals do that because they are scared to death of her ideas. She surely represents normal Americans more than these Ivy league elitists we have been electing for the last 20 years.

There are better canidates than Palin to be sure, but there are many more that are worse, including the current president and the winner and looser of the last election.

Or as I was thinkin the other day, maybe a Huckabee/Palin ticket would be ideal. :type:

What ideas? She spoke only in McCain talking points so we never heard any of her ideas so how could we be afraid of them? Do we do see her interest in building that pipeline which is the foundation to her energy policy if she had one but American can get more for less money than that expensive "pig with lipstick" she's selling.

This is exactly what I think. Palin's support is purely from the far right. Even the moderate GOP' leaped ship because of her. The GOP can run her if they want but I don't think she stands a chance unless Obama does something very wrong.

The problem with running Palin is people won't forget her claiming AK proximity to Russia was foreign policy experience or that she couldn't name a supreme court decision she agreed with or she couldn't name a periodical that she routinely reads or etc... Those questions were not that tough...

Troopergate also left the feeling that her husband actually runs the state. He did all the dirty work and we learned all communications to her went through him. I think she has too much baggage that would be greatly exploited even in the GOP primary.

How about the idea that being governor of a state within sight of another country, a state with international ports and commerce, a state that is not even connected to the lower 48, means that she does have some experience dealing with international issues.

How about the idea that all children are precious and should be protected, especially those who cannot defend themselves?

How about the idea that we need to use the gas, oil, and coal that we have in our own country to decrease our dependence on foreign sources?

How about taking the profits from that gas and oil away from the big oil companies and getting more of it back to the people like she did in Alaska?

How about smart approaches to fish and game management like she did with the Alaskan fisheries and yes including her sound scientific approach to wolf management?

How about small business owners, here is a quote from Palin when she was running for governor:

As Mayor and CEO of the booming city of Wasilla, my team invited investment and encouraged business growth by eliminating small business inventory taxes, eliminated personal property taxes, reduced real property tax mill levies every year I was in office, reduced fees, and built the infrastructure our businesses needed to grow and prosper.

How about education, law enforcement, 2nd amendment, gay marriage, and others? She has stated positions on all of these and has ever since she first ran for office. Check the net, I did.

You are right that she had to put some of her own positions aside in her support for McCain, but that is over. Now Sarah can put her own positions forward and that is what she needs to do.

Perhaps you are right LeBuick. Palin’s support does come from the far right, but I believe what has killed the republicans since 2004 was their drift left and their embracing of liberal ideas. I think we need to be right of Sarah, not left. Perhaps if only the conservatives support the republicans they will fail. But I don’t think so. Those conservative ideas are what is best for our country and I think if the American people can see that they are smart enough to embrace those ideas. Maybe I have my head in the clouds and think everyone is thinking like I do but I know that these ideas of giving up our sovereignty and prosperity to the false gods of the left will destroy our nation and I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t realize that.

I still have faith in the American people and believe if they are presented with a clear choice they will choose what is best for America, not just what is best for their own pocketbook. The problem is that since 1984 we have not had a choice other than liberal and more liberal.

I doubt it. I like her as a person but as a politician, she's just not experienced enough. If she could get more experience on a National level, she may have a better chance.

Obviously you found a good number of reasons to support Palin which is great. My point, she was on the last ballot with all those things on the table and didn't get the vote. I don't think any of the attributes you listed is a reason the left should fear Palin.

Again, these conservative ideas were on the ballot against a guy who said he would raise taxes on the top 5%, put us in more debt with a new health care program and had just voted in a $700 Billion bailout package with a promise that more was on the way. He was said to be a no eperienced socialist, Marxist, Muslim, big spender that palled around with terrorist and this guy won the election.

You have to come to grips with the truth that a lot of people vote for the person and not their ideas. Unfortunately Conservatives or Liberal ideas don't win elections, most people vote for who they like...

McCain drew about 800 in FL.
Palin drew about 3K to 10K
Obama drew over 100K.

See how it works?

Obama never drew those crowds until his campaign was well established. Give Palin some time.
