Grand Mufti Amīn al-Ḥusaynī, Nazi Collaborator

    Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine Amīn al-Ḥusaynī (1897-1974) was appointed Mufti (sharia law judge) by the British in 1921 although he was more of a political leader than a scholar. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, he fled from Israel in 1937 after leading a destructive strike.

    Eventually, he ended up in Germany in 1939 where he lived until World War II ended, when he made his way back to the Middle East.

    The Military Channel aired a program calling him a Nazi Collaborator, which he certainly was. Someone has posted it (about 45 minutes) on YouTube, in case you are interested:
