Great Illustration of what is wrong with synergistic theology

    I'm a huge Panthers fan, born and bred in Charlotte, NC. So when I heard Josh Norman say this, I knew what he meant, but it fits so perfectly here:

    "[T]here's nothing more that's greater than being self-made. Can't nobody take anything from you. Can't nobody say they did this, did that." (ignore the terrible grammar of a pro athlete speaking extemporaneously, they're not all polished like we'd like)

    Apply that same logic to salvation. Synergists in a very real way are "self-made" in the sense that the are partly to credit for their efforts. And so the pride that follows is that to be self-made, then nobody can take that away from you, as in you deserve the credit and the glory that follows.

    Such a mindset is not boasting in the cross. It is boasting in the cross AND your self-made belief (read "effort") to come to Jesus as a personal achievement (I think someone said that once :D).
