Americans should have been taken out earlier, hindsight is clear vision.
But knowing the region and the Taliban and what Biden and military leaders did shows a lot of arrogance and stupidity.
It also demonstrates Biden and his military staff are way out of touch with reality and not trustworthy.

Taliban seems to me are thinking these Americans are worth holding on to squeeze Biden and make his administration look more foolish worldwide.

Jimmy Carter's ill fated hostage rescue mission involved many fewer captive Americans, than Biden's perhaps 10's of thousands. Iran held them until Carter was out, and Ronald Reagan in office.

Burned on the ground. Circumstances involving the nations IMO show whose side God is on, and it was not to be. IMO, Afghanistan circumstances are a Judgement of God on America, as are all the extreme troubles recently, the last several years have been extreme. Biden Finally Responds to Question 'Do You Trust the Taliban?' His Response is Astonishing (trendingpolitics.com)

Pretty damning of Biden, seems Biden considers them legitimate government and then he talks of offering them potential aid and assistance to govern the country and work with them. I guess Biden does negotiate with terrorists, but he does not think they are terrorists anymore.

“Look, the Taliban has a, umm,” Biden said before he paused. “Taliban has to make a fundamental decision. Is then Taliban going to attempt to be able to unite and provide for the well-being of Afghanistan, which no one group has ever done?”

“Since the before… for hundreds of years,” he continued. “And if it does, he’s going to need everything from additional help in terms of economic assistance, trade, and a whole range of things.”

“The Taliban has said, we’ll see whether they need it or not,” he rambled on. “They’re seeking legitimacy. They’re seeking legitimacy to determine whether or not they will be recognized by other countries.”

August 31 is deadline for Biden to get out. After that, who knows what will happen to American citizens in Kabul, but the Taliban are saying Biden must completely exit by then, no extension, no exceptions.
There are only 8 days left for Biden to evacuate these trapped Americans.
Those people are in for a rough week and it does not get better with time unless they can escape. ISIS is supposedly making threats and are in Afghanistan. I have read Taliban and ISIS don't get along well.
