Growing Republican Party Turmoil Over Federal Spending

Yeah, I read that Novak article. But the spending bill is not done for yet and all of that money might be restored somewhere else in the sausage factory. Mike Pence of Indiana is one of those in the committee that Novak mentions.

I don't think that the GOP can control spending. The war cannot be cut and the relief aid cannot be cut without the Democrats yelling racism.

Federal spending is just old-fashioned greed. The American people think that they can vote themselves rich by spending for pork for themselves. If you look closely at the pork, a lot of it goes for the rich. Sam Donaldson gets $100,000 for his herd of goats, the rich get a new dock for their yachts somewhere, a developer gets an interstate exit for his property, PBS gets money, professors get money to study why students watch tv, Lawrence Welk's boyhood home becomes federal property, Indiana University gets money to collect pornography for the Kinsey Institute in Bloomington, Indiana, etc, etc, etc.
