Haiti paying for Pact to the Devil

Pat Robertson said that.

Here

The Haitians "were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III and whatever," Robertson said on his broadcast Wednesday. "And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, 'We will serve you if you will get us free from the French.' True story. And so, the devil said, 'OK, it's a deal.' "
Native Haitians defeated French colonists in 1804 and declared independence.
"You know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other." Robertson has previously linked natural disasters and terrorist attacks to legalized abortion in the United States. Soon after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast, killing more than 1,800 and wreaking unprecedented devastation on New Orleans, Louisiana, Robertson weighed in with his own theory.

hey Pinoy,

I've never been a Robertson fan when he comes up with stuff like this. We have no way of telling if this is a punishment from God. This is prue speculation. Sure we can take bible verses and match them up with today's headlines, but who are we to speak for God on His action or non-action on earth? Pat Robertson is just another black-eye on Christianity.

God does not cause the natural events on earth. He does intervene by times for His own reasons, but He allows earth to function under the prescribed means He created in the beginning.

Actually the sin of man brought judgement to the earth. Jesus paid the price of redemption once and for all.... But that which we have.... eternal or everlasting life.... is as sure as though it were now but not yet for we are not yet changed. Likewise, the earth is still under judgement and a curse.... but one day there will be a new heaven and a new earth.

PR is a worthless piece of flesh and oxygen...
My prayer is that God will shut his mouth up!...

That false prophet represents the worst of the worst in fanatics...

Hell is going to be hot for these con-men...

We have well over 6000 Canadians in Haiti and many unaccounted for. Our government made 2 million dollars immediately available for aid and offered to add one dollar for each dollar donated by Canadians.

It is a sad scene for certain.

Cheers,

Jim

Christians need to help.. I have a couple links below in the news section for donations.. One is connected to One great hour of sharing, the other is Friends of Fort Liberte.. we WV Baptists are connected to both of these ministries and they are 100% legit.. every dollar donated through them will go to the relief effort...

I read that this pact with Satan is part of a legendary tale that has never been verified.

When PR says things like this, many people will think all Christians think like this.

I read that this pact with Satan is part of a legendary tale that has never been verified.

Went to Haiti about 20 or so years ago and that tale was told to us by a tour guide. So it isn't new or did it start with PR. The guide kind of bragged about it.

Whether or not there was a literal pact with the devil, I'm sure that Haiti being the poorest country in the Western hemisphere can be blamed on their wicked voodoo religion. When a people doesn't follow Biblical principles because of their religion or for other reasons, the society becomes downgraded. I was in Bangladesh last years, 86% Muslim, and it is incredibly poor.

Someone may ask, if this is true, why is Japan so rich? Because from the time Commodore Perry's black ships entered Yokohama harbor, Japan has been doing their best to emulate America in technology and economic matters. And after WW2 the constitution written by Bible-loving Christian Gen. MacArthur continued the process.

At any rate, it is a fact that many Haitians believe their leaders made a pact with the devil over 200 years ago. Check this link: http://www.joelnews.org/news-en/jn464.htm

How does one make a true and real pact with the devil?
I think it's just a story, a real story, but the devil doesn't come and make pact with people. Now people can dedicate themselves to satan, I mean there are religions that do that, not just to evil in general, but by name to satan. is that what that pact is supose to mean? Still doesn't make it real.

Luke 13:1-5
(1) Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.
(2) Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?
(3) I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
(4) Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?
(5) I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

I have yet to see a country that didn't deserve judgment from God.
NO one is sinless...

PR is a False Prophet.

I really wish Pat would learn to be quiet and not make such outlandish comments. I guess he hopes it will improve his 700 Club ratings. This type of comment does not help spread the word to unbelievers, but it does push them away.

Whether or not these souls in Haiti were particularly deserving of this disaster is something we cannot discern except to make note that there are many missionaries
there:

Genesis 18:25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

What we can do is to ignore all such speculations about the Haitians, have compassion and help them (pray, give).

Best I've heard on this.

"Mr. Robertson, liquidate the assets of the 700 Club, give it to the poor in Haiti, and go home."Timmy Brister on Twitter
