Does anyone know about the issue between Hanegraaff and LeHaye?

Let's keep it friendly and In Christ ...

All I know of is a difference of opinion on end times prophecy.

Hank felt the need to co-author an end-times novelization, just like he felt the need to write a little study on the Lord's Prayer called "The Prayer of Jesus" to counter "The Prayer of Jabez." Trying to cash in on the coat-tails of two Christian writing successes. At least in terms of sales. Don't think his will measure up, sales-wise.

    I heard Hank,

But, he was not really very clear on what he was saying ... sounded more like a lawyer trying to not state the obvious ...

I will read the link again as I get more time.

    God Bless

My understanding of what he is saying ( HanK ) is he doesn't believe in a rapture, only a resurrection that takes place when Christ returns. He believs the anti- christ and the Great tribulation happened around 70 AD, and that the symbolism is more important in propecy than the literal interpretaion. Some of the things he said about people interpreting Scripture by the newpaper headlines I can agree with, but his theology is definately opposite of LaHye, which whould be a problem between the two.

No doubt he hopes to make some money off of it. He obviously spent a lot of time doing it, and like the rest of us probably needs to get some money in exchange for some time, in order to live.

But I wouldn't just discount the possibility that he also wanted to counter what he perceives as sloppy eschatology in the "Left Behind" series.

I think that you are correct that he won't cash in the way LaHaye did.

Don't hold me to it but I read somewhere in the past two weeks that his book had outsold Left Behind 'out of the gate', as it were.

Interesting, Iveyleaguer. I didn't touch LaHaye's books because they struck me immediately of being filled with sensationalism. But I might be persuaded to read this one.

I also had no interest in reading the Left Behind books or watching the movies, for that matter. For me, they brought to mind the Hal Lindsey books of the 70's which I found confusing as a teenager and a new Christian. Scare tactics seem to me to be both ineffective and in poor taste. I wonder how many people make real commitments to Christ through LaHaye's books/movies. Maybe it's just not my thing. I like Haanegraf, though, so I may find myself reading that book. What's the title of his new fiction book?

Hank seems more off in his teachings than Tim does. To me, it's a choice of the lesser of two evils. Not for one second do I believe that the AC has come and the trib occurred. Worldwide, the Roman pogrom against the rebellious Jews was a local event, while the REAL AC's stuff will be worldwide.

The Roman thing was nothing compared to HITLER'S stuff, and even Hitler hardly reached more than 1/4 of the world.

I thought the Left Behind books were interesting but weak in story and plot and not well written. And I don't trust LaHaye's eschatology (or anybody else's). I like Hank but his book is preterist which didn't surprise me given his predisposition to allegory.

This kind of surprises me. I'm a fan of his radio show. Does this information come from the link that was posted earlier? I'd like to read more about this. I thought he would be more in the mainstream of evangelicals in his eschatology than that.

He is more in line with what evangelicals beleived before Darby and Scofield.

I never did read the Left Behind books. And I have no use for this Hank Hanegraaff or his website for a couple of reasons, which have nothing to do with his opinion on eschatology.

Now I'm curious. Why do you feel so negative about Hanegraaf?

I purchased The Last Disciple but I haven't read it yet. I'm still reading The Lord of the Rings. [IMG]

From what I have read on the Internet concerning this theological food fight, Hanegraaff is a partial preterist.

Hank (the accuser of the brethren) makes a good living by slamming preachers and writers.

I think he has done a lot of good exposing preachers who have led large numbers of people astray.
