    Finally a guest on Hannity & Colmes (7/28/06) not crying for war with Iran and Syria – and a moderate Muslim critical of the Bush administration to boot! But chickenhawk Sean Hannity was so busy showing off his inner warrior he didn’t have much time to spend on the topic which was supposed to be about evacuating Americans from Lebanon. Warning: Don't watch the video on a full stomach.

    The guest was Nabih Ayad, attorney for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee which is suing Secretaries Condoleezza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld for failing to protect US citizens in Lebanon.

    <snip>

    Colmes covered a lot of territory in his brief time. “Let me talk about the fact, I think it’s quite ironic that we can get bombs to Israel a lot faster than we can get Americans out of Lebanon back to the United States… We talk about wanting to create democracy in the Middle East. Lebanon is a burgeoning democracy. Beirut becoming a world-class city. I would think President Bush would be happy that Americans would be supporting that because isn’t that what they’re promoting – the idea of creating democracy in that part of the globe, something Lebanon was on its road to becoming. Americans went there supporting that very idea.”

    Video and transcript.

    I can't stand Sean Hannity, but here, he's right. Israel is an ally. And Clinton told everyone to leave Lebanon 12 years ago. Our money is better spent supplying Israel than moving these folks.

    I guess there's billions to for four-star hotels and free healthcare for Iraqis, but if American citizens are caught in a war, then tough luck, we're out of cash.

    Americans just pay taxes. How selfish of them to expect them to be spent for America.

    Don't forget that a good many of the Arab Americans trapped in Lebanon are supporters of Hezbollah, as pointed out in a prior thread.

    I couldn't find "drop dead" anywhere but in the headline? What am I missing?

    Maybe Bush could appoint a political commissar to interview each person and decide who to allow on the evacuation.

    I do not think American citizens need to be sorted by political belief, when we rescue them. Some of them could be republicans or democrats. We should still save them, as repugnant as that might be.

    American citizens are American citizens. The whole point of being an American is to have the freedom to choose to be whatever you want to be. That's supposed to be what our troops are fighting and dying for in Iraq, at least according to the President.

    Hannity is an idiot. He continues to prove that by opening his mouth. I think it is despicable to make money by promoting division and sowing discord. Of course, he has the right to voice his opinion, but I pity the people who are stupid enough to let him shape their way of thinking. I guess that's the result of the failure of public education in this country.

    Yup. These people chose to stay there, & we should honor it. What's next, we rescue people that violated the travel block to Cuba ?
