I am a monstrous [no pun intended] Godzilla fan!!

When I saw the 1956 one, with Raymond Burr playing an American reporter in Japan - I was not aware that it was the original 1954 Japanese one with subtitles and with Burr's scenes spliced in. For 1956, they didn't do such a bad job.

True. I have a DVD of every Godzilla movie made - Japanese and American. I am supposed to receive the latest DVD - "Godzilla Minus One" - later this month. I think that it is the best Godzilla movie since the 1954 original.

I love to watch the Japanese versions in the original language with English subtitles. I find the dialogue makes much more sense, plus I can hear the actors' actual voices. I think that the original 1954 movie in Japanese is more somber, especially in the ending, than the Americanized version with Raymond Burr.
