Thanks to all the veterans on BB for their service. Today brings back lots of fond memories to me and hope it does to you also.

I enlisted in the Navy, got out after my first hitch. My brother Mark did the same thing. My brother Jim joined the Army, and got out after his hitch was up.

My brother Tim served 30 years in the Navy. This day is for him. Hard for me to hold myself up to his stature.

In my 20 years in, I flew combat helicopters. I was in Vietnam, flew the fence line between East and West Germany during the coldest part of the Cold War, I went to Grenada, the Suez Canal when Iran threatened to close it, Panama, and Desert Storm, after which I retired. During those years, I came to know a lot of wonderful people. Today, I don't want you to remember my service. I want you to remember those who served honorably, valiantly, and ultimately paid the full price for their service.

Since this is in the political section - I will tell this story.

When I ran for the State Assembly - I spoke with my opponet - I asked him about his military service. He told me he was only a JAG in the Army Reserve - and therefore did not feel he was entitled to the status of a veteran.

I told Bill that he servd honarably in the Total Army.

I would would like to wish a Happy Veterans Day to the Bill Magnarelli

Sgt Salty

PS - I served 15 years in Active Army and 8 years in the State Guard

PPS - Bill beat me 87- 13%

If it wasn't for the enlisted cook who fed the enlisted jet engine mechanic who fixed the F 16 for the Captain who dropped his payload on his target which cleared the way for the Army troop to attack his target that was planning an attack on...... and on..... and on....it goes. Thank God for them all.:wavey:
