Private revelation for the benefit of its recipient? Probably yes.To any group or person?
If yes, what is the proof?
According to 1Cor 12 -- yes.
According to 1Cor 14:1 - yes.
According to Eph 4:4-11 - yes - until the second coming of Christ.
There is no text in all of scripture that says "when John dies - God will stop providing the 1Cor 12 gift of prophecy".
And of course - John writes more Bible - after the book of Revelation. Hence the Gospel of John.

But...John didn't write the Gospel of John after he died .
would add that the passage in Revelation may not refer to what became the canon but to the book of Revelation..
I believe the scriptures is all God has to say to the church as a whole.
Not according to the Bible.
In 1Cor 14 "Each one has a revelation" when they came to church - yet not a one of their revelations were then turned into scripture.
