I'm opposed to the hate crimes law as a matter of principle, but there's nothing that criminalizes speech. This is just more alarmist right-wing talk.
The new law signed by Obama now covers crimes based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. It also removes the restriction that federal authorities can launch investigations of victims who were engaged in federally protected activities like voting or free speech.

I think you might be reading something that isn't there. You're making it sounds like, according to the story, the bill removes restrictions to allow federal authorities to investigate suspects engaged in federally protected activities like voting or free speech. That's no so. The story actually says that the bill removes restrictions to allow federal authorities to investigate victims engaged in federally protected activities like voting or free speech.Whoops, look like you're wrong.
This post is just left wing defensive mode.
Mostly I agree with this sentiment, BUT, AFAIC, this administration has given ample evidence that there IS "good reason to assume otherwise".It's a good principle to assume the best unless you have good reason to assume otherwise.
Can you cite the specific law makes it illegal to preach salvation through Jesus Christ?Did not the 1st century Christians face the same thing that 21st century Christians faces today, preaching Jesus Christ? Today preaching Salvation through Christ (only way to eternal life) is hate speech and will result in imprisonment and probably death in these United States of America before the mid-century.
Is that a hate crime in and of itself?I hate hate crime legislation!

What I asked was for you to cite the specific law that currently makes it illegal to preach salvation through Jesus Christ. You had said that preaching Salvation through Christ today will result in imprisonment and probably death in the US. Please cite the specific law which you are referring to.
