I would venture all of us have asked at one time or another the following questions. Have I fallen to often, has sin finally defeated me? How can I continue knwing my limitations and God's expectations? Might I remind each of us again that the just man falleth seven times and riseth up again. His mercy endureth forever...

My wife enjoys quilting but I've never thought about doing it myself.

    Re-word this question

I would like to re-word this question. I have never thought of quitting my salvation; however, do we all go through trials that make us question our worthiness of being saved and step back and slow down in our race? I have been a Christian for many years (over 20), taught Sunday School in an IFBC and then two years ago went through a separation and subsiquently a divorce, something that I couldn't even fathom a few years ago -- well that is sort of a misnomer, I could fathom it because we have had problems for about the last decade of our marriage and I attributed those original problems to being out of God's will and from that point on got back into church and more importantly back into my Bible. I felt that God hit me over the head with a 2X4 and I obeyed. I did everything I could to make it work but the damage was too deep on both sides and after another 10 years we separated. We have both moved on and she definitly seems much happier.

I still attend Church regularly, although not the same IFBC that I did attend while being married, even though I still live very close to it. However, I do not have the desire, or passion I once had a few years ago for teaching or even reading my Bible. Maybe it is conviction, maybe it is resentment for trying so hard and not seeing the outcome I wanted...But how do you move back into the race with an actual desire to want to do it again!

So even though quitting is definitly not an option do you ever feel like you have stepped back from the race and are not putting a full effort into it.

I was told early on in my life, when you feel like quitting, write a formal letter of resignation the night before, and sleep on it. If you still feel like quitting in the morning, do it.

It has always worked for me.

    Cheers,

    Jim

PS, I can't swim, and I feared being thrown overboard as Jonah was.

One of my favorite quotes is:

    "Winners never Quit-&-Quitters never Win!!!"

I just love this quote! It really comes in handy when I'm running long distances, or riding my bike in a long race.

    Dear thjplgvp,
I want to tell you and all that have posted, in reply to you that, yes, I have thought of quitting. I Am Blessed 16 had a very good point, what would I go back to? No doubt Satan... and the flesh is always trying to prevent us from what God wants us to do, sometimes like you said before it takes getting hit with a 2x4:laugh:, but what does the Lord want us to do, that is the question. Though a rightous man falleth seven times... what is he suppose to do? The man is suppose to get back up again! Brother it's not a matter of whether we "feel like" doing something for God it's what God tells us to do, a command. The Lord leads from his blessed book the bible, to know and understand what God wants us to do we need to know what his word says first. Then how do you know where to go, well pray on it, DON'T SLEEP on it! What does the sluggard do? He sleeps, my goodness Jim1999 this is a man's christian walk we are talking about dont use humanistic philosophy use God's word to combat principalities, wickedness and the things of the devil! What did Satan tempt Jesus Christ with? Satan tempted Jesus Chrsit with food and the nations of the world! Would Christ have slept before his encounter with Satan??? No way man, he fasted. Now before Christ was taken away to his "trial" and crucification, what did he do? He prayed, how was his prayer, how important was it to him he sweat drops of blood. Brother Christ new what he was doing, he knew what he was sent for was he a bit nervous, well yeah he was gunna go to hell for you so that you could be saved brother if ye faint in the day of adversery (not sure about spelling) thy faith is small. What I'msaying is follow in what Christ would have done pray, pray, pray, pray without ceasing! That's what needs to be done, I'll be praying for you brother, The Grace of Our Lord be with you All, amen. Philippian 4:23

Sincerely your brother in Chrsit Jesus,
    Mark (Saint #unknown)

I actually have quit more than once. But the Lord always brings me back. He sends a latter rain, or a word in season, or a swabbing of fresh oil. These may come across as trite statements, but this really describes my own experiences. If you are His, He will not let you go. Wait on the Lord and He will renew your strength. Wait, I say, wait.

Yes I viewed it and sent it on to some loved ones and especially my daughter and told her to always keep it in mind.

An Old Regular Baptist preacher said one time, to my assistant Pastor, "if you can quit then you should".

For all who have replied with concern, thank you, but quiting has not even entered my mind. Basically the post was to promote the video which I thought was pretty well done.
