It appears Porter Goss had a heated arguement with someone else and he quit. That is it really.

Do you expect everyone in government to stick around for 30 years for the retirement?

 

Goss was quite wealthy. He's made a killing in Florida real estate.

He may have decided he was too old & rich for the hassle.

 

No, but they usually don't just walk off the job!

 

.....Republican sources told TIME that the White House plans to name his replacement on Monday: Air Force General Michael V. Hayden, who as Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence has been a visible and aggressive defender of the administration's controversial eavesdropping program. His nomination is sure to reignite the battle over the program on Capitol Hill, where one House Democrat promises "a partisan food fight" during the confirmation process.

Though Hayden, who has a close rapport with Vice President Cheney, has not been formally offered the job, he is the leading candidate and the announcement is planned for Monday at the White House, the sources said. The President frequently extends a formal offer immediately before an announcement, to cut down on leaks and allow for last-minute developments.....

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause , supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

There you go, poncho, muddying things up with the U.S. constitution. Don't you know that the Bush administration has, for all practical purposes, suspended the U.S. constitution? Get with the program, poncho. The conservative and the liberals in the Demopublican Party are in league now and aim to continue to increase the size and scope of the federal government by continued outlandish spending, by continuing to diminish individual liberty, and by continuing to prosecute unconstitutional wars in foreign lands.

And the Demopublicans want folks like you and me to shut up and just go along with their destruction of our constitutional republic.

 

Goss went in with his own group of people and displaced those who apparently *were* sticking around for the retirement benefits.

I guess if I were in a job at an agency that was held responsible for allowing a terrorist event to occur on US soil (and in our airspace), I would be kind of upset at being displaced because it might be a tad hard to find a job in that field again.

 

That's what happens when conservatives accept the idea of collectivism Ken. The idea of the safety of the group will always trump the rights of the individual. I can't wait to hear what the excuses will be when the United Nations starts to tax us.

King George tried that and we all know what happened then. If I were a betting man I'd say Americans today wouldn't even bat an eye about a group of internationalists declaring their power of taxation over us...a supposedly sovereign nation.

W's 'alarmed' panel sealed top spy's fate

WASHINGTON - A little-known White House advisory board convinced a reluctant President Bush to launch yet another high-profile shakeup of the nation's intelligence community and can CIA Director Porter Goss, sources said yesterday.

Bush had already gotten an earful from Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte on the shortcomings of Goss, but the final push came from the "very alarmed" President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, intelligence and Congressional sources said.

Alarms were set off at the advisory board by a widening FBI sex and cronyism investigation that's targeted Kyle (Dusty) Foggo, the No.3 official at the CIA, and also touched on Goss himself.
