Health concerns during fast

How do you instruct folks who must control diet, exercise and medication when it concerns fasting?

Do you encourage the assembly to fast when sickness and oppression are encountered?

Do you consider that the assembly is too weak from a lack of sincere prayer and fasting to deal effectively with ungodliness, oppression, sickness, and other issues?

Do you consider the fasting of the Bible unimportant because of the gift of the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures?

Tell them to see a doctor if they have any health concerns. Anything else will leave you open to liability.

Is there an example of this in the Bible I missed?

How do you know whether someone is fasting?

How do you know prayer is insincere?

Do you consider the fasting of the Bible unimportant because of the gift of the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures?

The main reasons I've seen for fasting are.

1. A time of extreme grief and mourning.

2. Prior to an appointment to the church.

3. A means to show God repentance and humility.

4. In an attempt to receive the intercession or mercy of God.
