For the past year or so I've been dealing with some chronic pain. Most of the time it's been manageable and it hasn't had a huge impact on my life so far, but I think it's beginning to get worse, triggered more often, and my pain days are pretty miserable. I'm told that if I don't get treatment for it irreversible damage could be done, but the thing is I simply cannot see a doctor for the foreseeable future.
I know God will provide, but I can't help but feel a little scared.

Pain is no fun... it gnaws at you, chewing away interest in other things.

I'm praying that God comforts you and provides the means to relieve your pain.

Why are you not able to go to the doctors anytime soon? If it is a matter of possible permanent damage, you may want to reconsider and try to get the help that you need. I'm sorry that you are feeling this pain!

Financial issues. Believe me, I *want* to go. The only thing that would be doable for me is the ER, and they can't really help with this.

*hugs* to you. Chronic pain and health problems are no fun at all. Have you tried repeating the name of Jesus mentally? I read about this somewhere, to repeat the name of Christ over and over, and it really helps to bring peaceful feelings in, along with greater serenity. It's blessed me with some lovely experiences.

Past week or so been in more constant pain, but hey, it's less intense than the other one. I'm wondering if this one is a separate issue altogether, though.
I kind of feel guilty for making a big deal out of this issue sometimes, since I've been reading chronic pain blogs where others have it far far worse. But even if for me it's not daily or even most days (until this past couple of weeks, anyway) it's still painful and my pain days are pretty much me moaning and feeling like I'd question living if every day was like that, and it's clearly not getting better, so?

I will try to see the doctor soon, even if it's just the ER. Was talking to someone with a similar issue and they think I should try it.

I'm not sure if anyone's reading this thread anymore, but here's the dealio:

I have very little money. I have a small income that I earn myself but I don't yet have a proper job and I am afraid this condition will make it hard for me to hold one because I'd need to take a lot of sick days and my symptoms would very likely be aggravated by many job-related tasks.
Someone is suggesting I sign up for Obamacare. I hate this idea, I am a libertarian and don't believe I should rely on the government to supply my health care needs. I feel like signing up for it would require me to turn in my libertarian card or something. But I need to do something. I don't know what I am looking for by sharing this...thoughts, I guess?

Obamacare isn't free healthcare but you may be eligible for Medicaid (Medicare? Whichever one is for those with lower incomes). Look into it.

Well I know it's not free yeah. I will look closer into medicaid/care, but I'm pretty sure after I turned 19 I no longer fit the requirements for my state. Last I checked you need an actual disability to get covered, and for that you need to see a doctor. (And I don't think this would count as a disability anyway.)

Definitely look into what they have in your state. New York had (I'm not sure if they still do) a pretty good low cost insurance for individuals and families that was only about $100 a month for families. I'm guessing it's a little bit more now but still - see what you can find!

Not any closer to health insurance (been caught up in holiday fun <_<), but I feel much better! I don't think it's gone, but it's less like it's waiting just around the next corner now. I think probably the pain will pay another visit sooner or later, because when this issue first started there was usually a good amount of time inbetween the pain days. But it's nice for it to grow more infrequent again, at least.

Definitely feeling better. And like I figured, the issue is still there, just, not as often. Like a couple weeks back I was in Sunday school and it showed up like "hi! remember me?" I was able to shift around a bit and keep it from getting worse. And another time it showed up while I was someplace, wasn't able to make it go away that time, had to wait til I got home for pain relief.
But for the most part I've been able to do things like normal.

I too am a Libertarian. And local Precinct Captain.

When I retired I continued my wife's health coverage under COBRA. I paid $458 per month plus co-pays and deductibles.

When we moved to Texas that same policy cost me $701 per month. I bit the bullet and paid.

In 2014, when Obama Care started, the cost of the policy went to $1007 per month. Then, 3 months later, we were told she would not be able to keep her insurance policy nor her doctor because her policy did not include pre and post natal or abortion coverage. (She is younger than I but not that young!)

The new "better" policy was $1760 per month.

I went on the Health Exchange website and signed her up for Obamacare. We now pay $66.77 per month for full coverage and copays of only $1.

I think Obamacare is a windfall profit scheme for the big insurance companies which own congress and the White House. But it is there and I will take it for as long as possible (she will be eligible for Medicare in December).

Sign up. Endangering your health by not signing up is foolish. God has provided a means for you to get the health care you need. Use it!
