Hear No Evil, See No Evil Christianity

Lamentably, there is a ‘hear no evil, see no evil’ brand of Christianity which has taken hold of the hearts and minds of many professing Christians.

Rather than ‘test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world,’ these professing Christians prefer to take all (who profess Christ) at their word. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ, they insist, because they claim certain doctrines which agree with our recognized orthodoxy. And besides, some of them are very nice people, according to our standards.

The Apostle James questions this superficial acceptance of another’s claims of orthodoxy: You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!

Instead, he admonishes us to examine their works to determine the orthodoxy of their faith.

Faith without works is a dead faith. A dead faith is not of Christ, who has created His Elect for good works which they will most assuredly do (Ephesians 2:10).

Furthermore, evil works demonstrate an evil faith which hates Christ, the Light of the World.

And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed (John 3:19-20 ESV).

It makes no difference if the faith is dead or if it is evil. Both are condemned as anti-Christ.

Roman Catholicism is proud of its many ‘charities.’ It is proud of its belief in the Triune God and the Deity of Christ.

On this basis alone, many a duped Christian leader and layman acknowledge Roman Catholicism a Christian Church.

For example, a professing Calvinist Baptist on this very board has declared, “Not everything that Rome teaches is wrong. They teach the Trinity. They teach care for your neighbor. Etc. So I will not completely disparage the RCC.”

On the surface, this seems a kindly, non-judgmental attitude which all Christians should embrace.

Yet, it is possible, should one hold the RCC’s feet to the fire of the Word of God, to expose the corrupt anti-Christ nature of the RCC. By so doing, the kindly judgment of the Calvinist Baptist, when weighed in the balance of the whole counsel of God, will be found wanting.

Beneath the Roman Catholic ‘orthodox Christian’ profession lurks an abundance of evil works:

1. Denying the once for all perfect finished work of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross (The Sacrifice of the Mass).

2. Claiming the power to offer literal Jesus Christ: blood, body and divinity, in the Sacrifice of the Mass. This alone is evidence of the promised strong delusion sent by God for the purpose of damning those who believe not the truth (2 Thess. 2:11-12).

3. Claiming the right to address prayers to a Virgin Mary and innumerable other ‘saints’ who have miraculous powers, though Christ is our only Mediator. This is proof of the polytheistic nature of this religion.

4. Claiming it is good, pious and proper to build, revere and honor graven images, for they glorify God and His people, though the Decalogue condemns such acts as evidence of hatred of the true God.

5. Willfully covering-up the on-going rape and sodomy of children under their care, thereby forever destroying the innocence and emotional well-being of these little ones. This is the work of the Prince of Darkness, not the Prince of Peace.

Evil works are the manifestation of an evil faith.

An evil faith is not a Christian faith, despite the insistence of their ‘charitable’ good works, as well as alleged adherence to orthodox creeds.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

But when He the, Spirit of truth, shall come, He will guide you into all the truth.

You will not remain in a religion of lies.

Ask Martin Luther. Ask Richard Bennett.

Ib my experience the extent to which Catholics put their faith in action puts evangelicals to shame by comparison.
How ironic us the way you play the "test the spirits" card! I know of 2 cases where evangelical exorcists were summoned to deliver a demonically possessed or oppressed child, who possession was evidenced by paranormal manifestations. These evangelical exorcists failed miserably; so in desperation a Catholic exorcist was summoned. In the most recent case the Catholic exorcist took immediate charge the demon and the boy was delivered. In the older case theCatholic exorcist achieved same result (after the evangelical minister failed), but the exorcism took a lot longer to succeed.

Informed Catholics would rightly counter that it is you who are blissfully ignorant of "the whole counsel of God" as articulated ...Wm Scripture. The "kindly Baptist" you impugn can point you to 2 biblical principles that you ignore:
"Whatever is pleasing, Whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, focus on these things (Philippians 4:8)."
"Judge not, lest you be judged (Matthew 7:1)."

Protestant: Beneath the Roman Catholic ‘orthodox Christian’ profession lurks an abundance of evil works:

1. Denying the once for all perfect finished work of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross (The Sacrifice of the Mass).

In this respect, informed Catholics understand biblical teaching on the Atonement better than you do. I will soon demonstrate this on the Catholic vs. Protestant thread.

2. Claiming the power to offer literal Jesus Christ: blood, body and divinity, in the Sacrifice of the Mass. This alone is evidence of the promised strong delusion sent by God for the purpose of damning those who believe not the truth (2 Thess. 2:11-12).

This is a mischaracterization of the Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation. In fact, their stress on the experience of Real Presence is more faithful to the NT than your concept of a merely symbolic Eucharist. Do you want me to show you the Scriptures that teach this?

3. Claiming the right to address prayers to a Virgin Mary and innumerable other ‘saints’ who have miraculous powers, though Christ is our only Mediator. This is proof of the polytheistic nature of this religion.

Rubbish! Catholics are strict monotheists. Indeed, you are obviously oblivious the biblical basis for the Catholic doctrine of praying to saints. I can enlighten you if you wish. Catholics don't ask deceased saints to perform miracles; rather, they ask them to intercede with the Father to answer their prayers. In a sense, every petitionary prayer that intercedes for needy souls is a type of "mediation" because it activates the intervention of Christ, who is ultimate the "one mediator." You pretend to invoke the Gospel principle of judging a tree by its fruits. So let's look at the fruits of prayers to saints. A Catholic recently told me that he went to the tomb of a deceased Catholic saint to ask for intercessory prayer for his wife's congestive heart failure. She was healed! I'll bet your church has never seen a congestive heart failure miracle.

4. Claiming it is good, pious and proper to build, revere and honor graven images, for they glorify God and His people, though the Decalogue condemns such acts as evidence of hatred of the true God.

I remind you that Jesus approves of the graven image of the Serpent that Moses erected to facilitate healing for those plagued by venomous bites (John 3:14-15). Catholic priests like to joke about ignorant Protestant claims that Catholics worship statues.

5. Willfully covering-up the on-going rape and sodomy of children under their care, thereby forever destroying the innocence and emotional well-being of these little ones. This is the work of the Prince of Darkness, not the Prince of Peace.

Keep in mind that I have successfully sued the Catholic Church in a lawsuit that gained national attention. You illustrate evangelical polemic at its worst, the tendency to indict a whole denomination because of the sins of a few. Most
Baptists are rightly offended at being slandered as a whole because of the odious offensive conduct of the infamous Westside Baptist Church. Evangelical clergy sex scandals are too numerous to count. Nothing is worse than Catholic spirituality at its worst. But nothing is better than Catholic spirituality at its best.

Protestant: Ask Martin Luther. Ask Richard Bennett.

Or ask the evangelicals in my town who have fled their evangelical churches to find God real in our local Catholic church.
When I ask Martin Luther, he tells me that James is an "epistle of straw" because it creates problems for his doctrine of justification. By contrast, Catholics take seriously all the Word of God and cite its contribution to the understanding of justification.

So there is a list of things Catholics are doing wrong? That's interesting coming from the camp that swears what YOU DO has no bearing on your salvation.

Any "evil work" is a work that doesn't have God as its source. Now if a "EVIL FAITH" is disqualified what exactly is missing? Sounds like the GOOD WORK of loving God is missing.

How do you go from a bad broken faith to a good one?

James 2

22You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;

2 Peter 1

5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

9But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

Faith has to do with trust, it has nothing to do with loyalty. Which is why the bible tells us faith without love is worthless.

1 Corinthians 13

2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
