Hebrews 11:40

They (Old Testament saints) were saved the same way we are, Grace through faith. However, we received the ultimate promise of God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Spirit of Grace that is in every believer. (Chap 1+ & 10:29). They "died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance....11:13+)

And so, all believers, Old and New Testament, are "perfected" in the same way (by the blood of Jesus Christ, our High Priest).

This verse also stresses the unity of believers from both the O.T. and the N.T. We are one "new man" in Christ. The elect of God; His children according to the kind intention of His own will, through the work of His Holy Spirit.

Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.


I think it refers to the resurrection of OT saints that they won’t get their heavenly bodies before we do.
(made perfect)


We get ours at the rapture ,

T1Co 15:51 ¶ Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.



They get theirs at the end of the tribulation.

Da 12:1 ¶ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Da 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.


When we see the gathering in heaven the OT saints are made perfect,as we are.

Heb 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Heb 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel.


Included in that verse could also mean our refining at the judgement seat of Christ which will precede their judgement and rewards, at the end of the tribulation .

but only pre trib, pre mil, woud ever come close to agreeing.

 

I think provided "problep" here is saying by divine decree..

"some better thing"...Better in that it is not by the law....
Heb Chapter 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope [did]; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

"without us"..apart from us..without us around...i think best..BEFORE US.

"should not be"....their old way COULD never be perfect....so they waited on the perfect time....which was when Christ would come...but this time is apart from them....AFTER THEM.

"be made perfect"( teleioo)...full and clear revelation. ...maybe better, "the end of the revelation". They (OT saints) needed and waited for Christ coming as much as we wait for Christ return. To them the revelation would be complete when He came, to us we now know that the revelation is clear in that our salvation is complete in His return or as we leave with a early exit. We have better understand, for we have full revelation...which is what they (OT Saints) needed to fully understand.
