    I just had broadband connected today and before I cancel my dial-up service, I need a new email address.

    Do I have to settle for Yahoo or hotmail or is there some other kind I can get???

    What about BaptistMail? Look at the bottom of the screen.
    I think you can get internet-based aol for free. But i'm not sure.

    Your broadband provider should provide you with an email address. However, if you want a web-based one, there are hundreds and hundreds. There are directories of email providers at places like http://www.emailaddresses.com and http://www.fepg.net/providers.html. Or you can just google for "free email" and go crazy. [​IMG]

    If you want Instant Messaging with your web Based e-mail...

    There are Hotmail, Yahoo, and AOL...

    But, I wouldn't have an AOL product for any incentive...

    I am quite pleases with Hotmail and Yahoo as services. If I didn't have gmail I would only use my hotmail.

    When I was with Charter Communications, I had an email addy with them, but I also had and still have a hotmail addy and a Yahoo addy. I also have msn Instant Messenger. I would not go with anything connected with aol. I think it's best to have your email address with your broadband provider.

    I use three Yahoo addresses, one MyWay.com address, and my granddaddy Gmail address (thank you, Jason!!!).

    I have found that MyWay.com is pretty good, in that it doesn't have a bunch of ads and banners. Sort of plain, but it is free.

    I have found it very handy to have a hotmail account in addition to the one provided by my boadband ISP. I use the hotmail address whenever I'm filling out any kind of request online for more information. Then all the crud that will inevitably arrive goes to that one and all the email worth reading comes to my "personal" address. After about 18 months this approah has kept my personal email very clean. [​IMG]

    I have had a Yahoo email addy for 3 years but never used it. Maybe this would be a good time!

    Another free service, but plagued with ads, is
    mail.com

    It allows you to choose from many "@------.com" names, such as
    @teacher.com
    @minister.com
    @earthling.com

    There is also a paid service, which eliminates the ads.

    Yahoo has also recently upgraded their service to give you 100mb of storage, so that you don't have to worry about a full mail-box.
