I should have included the atonement for sins - Jesus did not die just as a moral example or to show love.

I believed the above (atonement) was included in your other post, or that is what went through my mind. Atonement is one of the first doctrines that I was taught as a child, so I say it is in the fundamentals or essentials of the faith as you said, I pictured it in what you say with out it being said.
