It is way past time for him to be kicked out . I do not know how he lasted this long .

 

Ward will probably be offered a cable show, like Bill Maher, or go talk radio like Al Franken. To some people, he is just too good to waste!

 

Actually, there is only a recommendation that he be fired. It has not been through the final process yet. Churchill vows to fight it if he is terminated.

I believe he should be fired, not for is inflammatory statements about 9/11 (which is protected speech), but for his alleged plagiarism, academic fraud and apparently gaining his tenure under false pretenses. Looks to me like a very angry white boy Indian wannabe.

 

What were the research improprieties, do any of you all know?

I never heard of Churchill. I did a little bit of reading on him and one word describes him: IDIOT. How such a person can become a university professor is beyond me. How do people become such left-wing wacko fanatics?

 

I hope, Joseph, that you aren't under the impression that there aren't any stupid PhDs. I've known a good number of them. Churchill may be notable for his disloyalty, but there are fools of all political stripes running loose out there with PhDs.

It only means that they are sufficiently good at scholarship to earn a degree.

It doesn't require a lick of sense, other than keeping the crazier stuff from your department while you're working on your thesis.

If he's being persecuted for his beliefs, that's unfortunate. But the news seems to hint that he's done some things that merit firing, and the persecution is only the reason that his misconduct surfaced.

 

And yet, it's Ann Coulter who sounds like him.

The research fraud is based on his accusations that the US Army intentionally created a smallpox epidemic among the Mandan Indians in 1837 by distributing infected blankets.

There was a smallpox epidemic on the Plains in 1837, but historians say all evidence indicates that it was accidental, and the Army had nothing to do with it. Churchill cites historian Russell Thornton for the accusation, but Thornton's work in no way backs up Churchill's allegations. Thornton told the Los Angeles Times that “If Churchill has sources that say otherwise, I’d like to see them. But right now I’m his source for this, and it’s wrong.”

Churchill had previously been accused of plagiarism and fabricating evidence in two articles by University of New Mexico Professor John Lavelle.
