There's probably "celebrity DUI" and "normal folk DUI". :)

It's a misdemeanor, 'cuz she didn't blame it on the Jews.

    Jamie,

    That was a interesting read . . .

Get drunk and drive - misdemeanor . . . do anything else (break another law) and it is a felony.

I wonder if talking on the cell phone counts as anything else.

el_guero, I should know better than to respond to your posts.

For anyone else, it was a reference to Mel Gibson's arrest, for the same thing. Bad joke, maybe.

OK . . . you were right, this is a bad joke.

But, I did laugh . . . I guess we are now both at risk of being blamed for a lack of Political Correctness . . .

Drunk driving is a misdemeanor in the USofA because it is our national sport. If you commit an offense with a gun the gun is confiscated. If you are arrestd for drunk driving the car is returned ASAP. Why? Because most cars are NOt owned by the drivers but by the banks. People don't make payments on cars in impound and nothing is going to mess with our owners, the banks.

If you buy drugs in a car in NY, the car is conficated whether you own it or not. I would have thought it the same for drunk driving, but I checked the NY DMV and it appears not to be.

    That is odd.
