Yes, the replacement monitor is going...going...

First, it was the pink boot up...no yellow. After awhile, it would whiten up again...

now, it's hissing.

I've checked, it's not a gas leak and the faucet is not dripping.

Actually, I'm not asking for advice as KDS is already shipping me ANOTHER monitor, different model, slight upgrade...

Just wanting to know WHY a monitor would find it necessary to hiss.

LOL! NOT the sink huh? [IMG]
Hissing? I hiss at mine, it hasn't done it back yet. In fact, it gives me this patronizing grin back!
Glad to hear you're getting a new one though! Hopefully I'll be able to add some mem into mine and get things speeded up, which will be a beautiful thing! It'll have time to run over, slap your hissing computer upside the hard drive, and be back in time for me to sign my name by the end of a post. ;)

Margie, if you are a fast typer, this maybe a way for the monitor to let off a little steam - no?! [IMG] [IMG]

It's likely to be a high voltage leak, either from the high voltage transformer (>20,000 volts!), the anode lead or the connection of the anode lead at the picture tube.

This is very dangerous condition. I would not open it nor would I try to clean it if I was unfamiliar with the dangers associtated with working on video monitors, you could get a very nasty shock (I know from years of working on them).

heheee, yes, those capacitors are filled with lots of bite! I got hit by one taking apart a TV once and boy that thing lit me up! I saw nothing but white when it unloaded through my finger, through my chest and out my other hand.
