Hit and Run and People

According to a friend that lived most of his life in NY, this disassociation from responsibility, even when danger is gone, is typical. Sad but true.....

 

I don't know if there would be much I could do. Call 911, stop traffic, ask if anyone saw a plate number. I wouldn't move him, because that might make his injuries even more severe.

If I were on the road, I'd tail the running driver, while calling 911 for the victim.
If I were on the street, run after the car, get its tags, then back to the victim.
My first cousin was a victim of a hit-and-run driver in the Philippines. He suffers from seizures, had one on the highway while crossing, and got run over by a 6-wheeler sand and gravel truck.
They never caught the killer.

When I first got to the States, there was this old man ran over on one of the major roads in Maryland.
Caused quite a bit of a traffic jam.
Drivers were irate, honking at each other, cutting at each other, following the redirects from the State Troopers, while the EMT's tried to work on the body.
Of course, they would have to wait for the ME to come and officially pronounce the victim dead.
One driver yelled: get that piece of junk out of the highway.
He was right beside us, that driver.
I was shocked, to say the least.
And people are not basically sinners, some say.
