So let me get this straight. The warming of the globe melts the ice in iceland but does not inhibit the how cold the weather gets in other places? is that right?


Maybe we should quit calling it "global" warming and just call it "Iceland" warming. That seems to fit the situation more correctly since it is isolated and not actually global.

 

It may be. It seems likely enough, though, that some church somewhere had an A/C system that went completely out in early fall and did nothing about it for the time, because of lack of funds. Then, in winter or early spring they scheduled a meeting or social of some type, to raise funds for a new system, and it had to be postponed because of snow and ice.

 

That makes me smile. It's 41 degress here in south Louisiana and with the wind chill it's 34.

It snowed 3/4 of an inch last night.

On this day in 1984 at this time (8PM CDT) it was
12ºF with a wind chill of minus 09ºF
It didn't snow.

Due to global warming, this day (15 Feb 2007)
was 5ºF more than in 1984 and snowed 3/4 of
an inch more. Yep, Global warming.
Someday we (the world) will not be able to continue to use
4.2% of our known recoverable oil reserves each year.

I wonder if you really know what 'Global warming'
means. One person said by 2020 he thought that
Iowa would have the climate that Arkansas had
in 1980. With Global there will still be
seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat,
and summer and winter, and day and night.
But sometime along the way the North Polar
region will warm up to the climate of Duluth, Minn.
Just exactly when, is unknown. And even if
there is an upward trend, there will be local setbacks.

As I said it is at 11PM EST the temp in
central oklahoma on 12 Feb 2007 was 15ºF
the wind is only about 7MPH so that only makes
a wind chill of +4ºF. It is snowing. But the snowing
is exceeded by the conversion of the ice into gas
without any liquid state in between.

Times in the past, it might have been 45ºF on this
15 Feb. But other 15 Febs it might have been
10ºF. 15ºF is WARMER than 10ºF.
