    All the announcers drolling over how Bobby Cox should be manager of the year??? Give me a break! Tony L, takes a team that has very little pitching and before they put this team together had very little name recognition and buried the Cubs who were suppose to run away with the division! What 105 wins?!? No question, Tony is the Manager of the Year.

    Thats because they got Scott Rolen fron the Phillies. (I'm a Phillies fan [IMG] ) I dont blame Scott for leaving Philly. Larry Bowa seems to be tough to work for.

    Looks like we won't have Larry to kick around much longer! So far, nothing has even slowed down the Cardinals.

    I didnt care for Bowa anyway. Thought he was a little too high-strung. There always seemed like there was a negative atmosphere in the clubhouse. I can understand why Rolen didnt like him and I am glad to see him go. He was one of the best Phillies ever and was instrumental in leading the Phils to their 1980 World Series Championship but not a great leader.
    Philly offered Rolen more money than the Cards gave him. That was how much he wanted out of Philly.

    Are the Cardinals in post season? Haven't seen or heard from them in forever.

    And Tony L = ?? (I'm not all that ignorant, really, but haven't heard him touted as manager of the year)

    Agree with Tony L as manager of the year. Didnt even have the Cards on my radar at the beginning of the year. Had the Cubs winning the division based on pitching and the Astros taking the wild card. Maybe offence does beat out pitching every now and then.

    Phil Garner of the Astros gets my vote for manager of the year.

    Thanks for starting this thread Mark. I am sure everyone is tired of hearing me yell GO CARDINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , of corse I am not tired of yelling it!

    GO CARDINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I really wanted Atlanta to beat the Astros, not because I particularlly like Atlanta, but we had a hard time with Houston recently. No matter though as the CARDINALS will be NL Champs. I'll say I want to play he Red Sox, cause they do like Red and I like Fenway!

    Lol well it was a good game last night. I think both teams are a good match-up. I regret that I will be unable to watch the rest of the games as I am going on vaca this sat and will be gone all week. I will at least be able to hear the games *maybe* with our short-wave-r.

    It ain't over till the fat lady sings!
    Too bad Pettitte isn't ready to go. I believe eventually, the Astros bullpen won't be able to hold the Cardinal hitters.

    Well, if Oswalt can go 8 innings tomorrow and get to Lidge for the 9th, the Astros might just even things up. [IMG]

    The only middle reliever who has been reliable so far has been Wheeler. So the minimum that the Astros need for the rest of the playoffs is for the starter to go 7 innings, Wheeler pitching the 8th, and then Lidge in the 9th.

    I would loved to have beaten The Rocket, but it is not a suprise that we didn't. We will have a better chance against Oswalt then Rocket, but the offence must be at its best. As long as we take 1 of the 3 in Houston I will be happy with the outcome.

    GO CARDINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Oswalt, the National League's only 20 game winner, is better than Clemens. On paper the Cards have less of a chance today than they did yesterday. But the games aren't played on paper. [IMG]

    The Associated Press analysis going into the NLCS gave the Cards an advantage in 8 out of 12 categories, 2 even, and only 2 for the Astros. On paper, the Cards should have swept the Astros. But they didn't. [IMG]

    They're the Astros,
    The mighty Astros,
    And they come from far and near;
    As they chalk up win after win after win,
    In an Astros' kind of a year.

    They're the Astros,
    The mighty Astros,
    And they're going to the top;
    As they beat and they beat all the other teams,
    And there's no way they're gonna be stopped!
