make it to the end of the strip that shows who the
    real God of mercy is.

Like most things from beliefnet I could see the twisted liberal slant on that piece. I do agree that as Christians we should be compasionate, caring, loving, take care of the sick and the poor and the widows, and show Christ's love to those around us, that IS the job of the Church, but not the job of the government.

I think that is where the liberals pervert the Scriptures idea of charity into the government taking from one person by force to give to another. While he makes a good children's story, God never intended us to act like little Robin Hood's.

If the Christians in the Church would do what they are commanded to do in the Scriptures, then the government may not feel like it is their responsibility! It's time for the Church to start helping the poor and the widows, and without GWB's faith based initiative money too!

You are right JGrubbs...but too many churches DON'T help. People complain about how it's not the government's responsibility, it's the private sector's. Many people who say that though, ususally mean it's "someone else's" responsibility.

Whether it's the government through taxes or the private sector through their own money...each person is still helping.

Paul taught that we are to be content. What the liberal distortion is about is how much they themselves covet power and how discontent they are.

You may be right cmg...but the reverse would be true as well. The conservatives covet power and are discontent as well. That is just what politics does.

If every member of every church just tithed, there would never be a shortage in any church. It just doesn't happen.

Then, in a secular society, it is the government's job to care for the needy. Governments started to assist the needy because the churches were not helping in the late 30's and 40's. Most of you with high Christian platitudes, never lived through the Great Depression or the war years. You haven't a clue what people suffered.

In the USA to-day, there is a Baptist pastor, suffering with Lou Gehrig's Disease, and he is at the mercy of donations to survive. At least under social medicine he would have proper medical attention without the financial burden.

Platitudes do not care for people!

    Cheers,

    Jim

You and your socialized medicine. You should have lived in the Soviet Union. There socialized medicine did not even have hot water in the hospitals. Why don't you move to Cuba if you like socialism so much?

The trouble with socialized medicine is that it puts bureaucrats in charge of medicine and they spend money on their friends and the people who voted for them. The first thing that gets cut is money for research.

Canada has blackmailed compainies such as Eli Lilly here in Indianapolis to either sell drugs cheap to Canada or else Canada will allow the drugs to be pirated. Canada is a rogue state. I notice that you keep saying that your daughter wants to practice medicine in America not Canada. I guess actions speak louder than words.

StefanM, that was not satire that Mioque linked--it was blasphemy.

Under your system, he'd be put on a waiting list.

And your health care system was declared unconstitutional, by your court, and is causing problems.

You guys make good points about the waiting lists. That does suck. But what does it matter? Waiting lists here...versus no or poor treatment for people lacking the finances over there?

Actually Bro. Curtis...I respected what you had to say until you talked about our "commie health care...". I will play nice and not say what I was going to say...

cmg...why would we want to live in Cuba? We have the FREEDOM to visit there...and buy their cigars. Oh...and our hospitals have hot water in them. Just no doctors to use it. :(

We may have blackballed a few of your companies but come on...are you saying you depend on us? How many of our companies have YOU guys "blackballed"? Anyone know anything about lumber and beef?

Actually, James, I said "FAILED commie health care..."

If our health care system is so bad, why do all the rich Canadians come here for our doctors ? In fact, rich from all over the world come here. We must be doing something right.

Also...our national anthem says "God keep our land...glorious and FREE"...not "God keep our land...a repressive rogue state".

Yes, I noticed you said FAILED...my problem was with you adding "commie". I'm not a commie...my country isn't commie...my grandpa didn't fight in the war for a "commie" country.

And remember, it was a Canadian that started this.....he tried to hurl a dart at the best country on God's Green Earth, and in the words of Merle Haggard...

"when yer runnin' down my country, yer walkin on the fightin' side of me."

How is it commie? Why do you have a system that only helps (or gives better treatment) to those with the bucks? Is THAT godly?

So when the Supreme Court tells us what to do it's ok. When they tell you what to do it is not? Yes, I hope there's hope for us. I hate the waiting lists. But I still don't believe it's "comie".

    Same to you :D

Oh...such blasphemy he committed. He had an opinion about your country. Funny how you guys are so tough but can't take a little "dart"...yet you are quick to have "opinions" on other countries.
