It was a pretty average day here yesterday.

The biggest event was we had a wasp flying around the auditorium while I was preaching and I had no clue. As I was preaching along it divebombed me and hovered right by my cheek. I lost all train of thought, backed up and said "WOAHHH."

Then I got to laughing, the people began laughing, and I finally said, "Talk about losing your train of thought." Finally I was able to take a deep breath and pick up and finish out the sermon.

SBC - the perils of rural preaching. I have that same thing happening to me all the time!

We had a pretty good experience yesterday - morning and evening.

Went pretty well. I forgot to turn the lights on at night (we only have S.S in the morning) since it was still light out. about half way through my sermon it got dark. I preach from a manuscript so this made life interesting as I tried to keep pace and pronounce all my words correctly. Its one thing to preach in your native language. But when you preach in a language that is your second (and are still learning) you have a million and one other things to think about too besides your text and notes and delivery ect. Over all it was a pretty good day though.

Had a great time teaching, preaching and worshiping in the AM.

We didn't have church in the PM because of Superbowl XLII---I'm just kiddin.'

The weather was really bad---it began to snow from later afternoon way into the night. Some places are still snowing.

It was a good day. We were down a little in numbers, especially Sunday PM for some reason.

It's usually always a good day when we get together to sing God's praises and learn from God's Word.

Had good services and the Lord blessed with responses in the morning.

We moved our PM service to 5:00 PM so people could come to church and see the SB.

Yesterday was interesting because i had a pulpit committee in attendance that i didn't expect. Someone called this past week to see if i was preaching on Sunday and told them yes but it was going to be a short service/message due to a former church member getting married the next town over (joys of small towns!)...they came anyway.
I don't even remember activating my resume, apparently when i updated some information online with the Louisiana Baptist Convention it got reactivated.

That is really unfair of that search team to do that. In most churches they would stand out like sore thumbs. And it would inevitably raise questions. I pray it doesn't cause you any problems.

    Great Day!

Had two additions, one by transfer of membership (has been attending my church every Sunday for over a year) and one by profession of faith.

Attendance was up for SS and worship. We don't have Sunday p.m. services.

Called a new Min. of Music. Vote was unanimous!

    First-time visitors.

Was one of those days when it was evident that God was present. We need such Sundays more often! Praise!

Maybe this thread should be a sticky. It´s a blessing to hear how God worked in others lives.

Yesterday was great for me. I preached on the preciousness of the cross and we celebrated the Lord´s supper. Plus we had a couple visitors. Was a blessed time of worship.

I agree about the sticky idea.

Had a really good day yesterday. Preached on God's hardening of Pharaoh's heart but it was more about God's plan for His people. God is omnipotent and sovereign and therefore His people can find refuge in him and those who don't find retribution. Had 4 first time decisions for Christ. Our teenagers were finishing their Disciple Now weekend. The student staff told me about a number of teens who comitted to purity in their dating life.

Last night we started a series on what Baptists believe beginning with characteristics of a Baptist church and the SBC. Had the largest crowd for a Sunday that we had in a while.

Came on to share an update and prayer requests, but I also wanted to get on here and talk about what God did the last Saturday in January while I'm here.

I did the devotional at a roller skating rally for an independent youth ministry I'm involved with - several youth groups and our own kids came. Anyway. several *dozen* came forward for rededication; I was amazed. In the church I attend, where I help out in the Middle School department, 2 of the kids from Youthquake, bus kids in our church, went foward for baptism - they got baptized last Sunday. :godisgood:

My message that Saturday was about the work of the Spirit - you know TLC, tender loving care? Well, I talked about TGC, tender Godly care - which also are the initials for the three things the Spirit does. (Clever mnenoc, huh?) He testifies, guides, and convicts.

I did some illustrations, asking one of the youth about his best friend - his name, what his favorite food was, etc.. Then, I asked what he'd think is someone walked up to him, looking and talking just like his best friend in every detail except one - he hated that favorite food. I asked, "What would your reaction be?" I used this to discuss being wary of cults and things that can draw them astray. I also discuseed how Jesus is our friend and how a friend would feel if we were away from him for so long - and also how we might get more easily drawn away if we're not with our friend - if K hasn't seen D for 2 years, he might forget D's favorite food is x, thus causing him to get fooled by that phony who is just like D except he doens't like x.

I used a few other examples, and for some reason, God just chose to bless that evening, I was so thrilled - I just had to sit back and give our Lord a great big  . It's so exciting when the Lord uses a message like that.

I actually found the welcome board, so I'm posting my uipdate there :)

I hate to see this thread die. I enjoy reading how things went with other preachers. The blessings and struggles of others can be an encouragement.

Yesterday was pretty good for me. I preached on persecution since that was my text was about. I was able to find an example of persecution here in Argentina from years ago (before it was an independent nation). The people seemed to enjoy the fact that I took the time to learn some of their history.

Truly we stand on giants shoulders when we consider all the saints who went before us and suffered and died for the faith. I pray that we all can be faithful if God so wills that we suffer.

Good to hear good reports. We had a good Sunday. 3 people responded to the invitation to trust Jesus. We will be following up on Baptism this week.

2 Sundays ago I had my 10th anniversary at the church. They had a surprise dinner for us and gave a nice plaque and a very large gift so that my bride and I can go on a cruise. It was very cool.

We started a doctrinal series this week by talking about what the Bible says about itself.
