How do you relax?

Relax?! Waz dat? I recall something about relaxing in elementary school. :D

Usually? Just lay down on my futon and ponder 'til I fall asleep. Doesn't happen much now that school is starting.

Until Next Post, Adam

Relax at home? Watching NFL football or a few good tv shows. With a big bag of popcorn and ice tea.

Sitting on a lawn chair on Casper Mountain, with a fire burning to stave off the chill and watch the evening tire until it fades to black save the sparks flying up from the logs.

Man, my mind just went there even though my body is in the basement office in my home! A real day-dream!

I try to explain to couples that don't have children how much free time they have. They don't believe me, no matter how hard I try. I talked to a colleague today and they mentioned taking a nap in the afternoon. They might as well have talked about taking a day trip to the moon.

I ride one of my motorcycles in the mountains east of San Diego. I just got back from a 60 mile ride. It was gorgeous!

Read theology books, Translate my Hebrew Bible, Write music, and...

during the winter, I like to start a fire in the fireplace, make some hot chocolate, and snuggle with my wife for a while... :D

It is more like resting. Several times a day I have to put up my feet to rest. Times like that I read the Bible or a good book. Reading relaxes me.

I hate to admit this, but sometimes I'm too uptight to reax. :( By the time we get through with school, it's time for the little ones to get home from public school, then it's time to tidy up the living room/dining room, fix dinner . . . in the midst of that there is the laundry, cleaning bathrooms . . . and the constant clutter! YIKES!

I love to do silk ribbon embroidery, I love to read (books, magazines, newsletters), and I enjoy general crafting as well.

I'm creative, and being creative relaxes me, but it's hard for me to lay down those other burdens in order to take up my relaxing past times.

Ok, did y'all really want to know that?!

I just wanted to add . . . I have found that I do my housework and take up my burdens more joyfully when I have had time for myself or when I have been able to relax or be creative. However, it's hard not to notice or be aware of what is being left undone when I take time out.

I love my family, love homeschooling, love keeping my home. I just get a little stressed at times, and today has been a doozy.
I just don't want anyone to think I don't appreciate what I have been given.

I know, I'm one of those weird one who actually likes to clean to relax  . I think it has something to do with getting rid of nervous energy- I can't relax until it's done-then I can lay down on the couch while the kids take their naps and sleep soundly for about 20 minutes. I usually awaken with a start, though.

By suppertime, I'm sunk for the day. I'm a morning person, not a night owl, that's for sure  !

I do have some hobbies and crafts that I find enjoyable as well.

amen sister! I can tackle the world in the a.m., but you can forget that by the late afternoon. Anything that requires me to expend any energy is out of hte question. I think that is why I had more desire to sew when the kids were smaller. I could get them up, do breakfast, a fast tidy of the house, and then do what I wanted. Now I hit the floor running every day . . . or atleast hit the floor at a fast trot!
ROFL . . . Ah, tis a vicious circle we live in, isn't it Joy?

Whoever said that mothering gets easier as your children get older lied!

As for being a night owl . . . that's my husband, and it's so hard to joyfully spend time with him. He likes to start watching movies at 11:00 a.m. when I need toothpicks to keep my eyelids open.

And when I'm ready to get up and start my day, he would rather stay snuggled in the bed as long as possible. Last spring we cleaned out the garage . . . but we didn't start until he wanted to. 3:00 in the afternoon. Hmph . . . I was useless. I have to start those kinds of jobs by 9:00 a.m.!

Depends on the mood.
If I'm mad.
I get in the 98 Camry, leather interior, inhale deep, stick my foot on the dash, blast the radio, and cruise until I'm totally relaxed.
If I'm stressed.
Put the kids in bed, put Strauss in the CD player, light candles and incense, and sink into the tub and into lose myself into wherever the music takes me.
In general
Painting, more painting, a little more painting, followed by say, painting, just laying out back on the grass, a little poetry writing, reading, and there's music, always music, no matter what.

Oh, I just go find a traffic jam and get road rage and do a few drive-bys :D . Just kidding, just kidding!!!!!!! Really, I just get into the word of God. Either getting into the Bible or my favorite sites on the internet, or a good book that I have found. It can relax me even on the worst days. :D
