What do you all do on your day off?

What would be your fantasy vacation?

I can answer for hubby - sailing. His "happy place" is on the boat so when it's accessible, he'll go there. Right now he's in his glory because it's summer and the boat is always there for him. :)

I used to walk a local golf course (no clubs) and clear my mind in God's wonderful green world.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Cool.....you can take it & dish it & you try to be fair.... come to think of it , thats not a bad eulogy:thumbs:

Regarding dream vaca's ......a year in a winabago touring the country with my wife & dogs....two years would be better.

Otherwise, a house boat in the Keys fishing.

Eulogy?? You know something I don't?

The Keys are a perfect get away for any amount of time, even if just in the imagination.

Down here, that's when the natives go out... the tourists are in hiding. We know we can drive 1/2 mile and it won't be raining.

We might stay inside during hurricanes, but that's because we have a hurricane party going on.

We purchased our sailboat in Florida in 2002 and sailed it from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale through the Keys at Marathon in April 2003. My kids were 4 months, 2 years, 9 and 11. It was....an adventure to say the least. LOL

But here's a pic of the boat in Fort Meyers. I wish I had more pics but I literally had my hands full! :D

Here is my hubby sailing Long Island Sound on the first day of our trip last year. I think this was the first time we were able to sail on our first day in YEARS!!

Nice looking boat, but can imagine it would get cramped with all the kids.

Doesn't Bill Hybels sail also? He is talks about it alot. I think he does competition sailing on the great lakes.

I play video games and do stuff with the family to unwind (small mini-trips). We go to Ana-Maria Island every year for vacation this is a wonderful trip dream vacation. Oh Hawaii would be nice.

I read...or do things around the house.

If I've had a busy day writing, or preparing, or studying I generally prefer to come home and do something with my hands. If I've had a busy day amongst people, doing things in "hands on" ministry environments I will come home and read.

Rick Warren once told me that "If you work with your mind in the day do something with your hands at night. If you work with your hands during the day do something with your mind at night."

As a general rule I enjoy following these wise words.

For more significant rest I enjoy sitting in a hammock and doing nothing...literally, nothing. :)

I tend to sleep in and then find something to do like watering the trees, playing with the dog or work on whatever my current physical building project may be.

    Vacation??? What are those???

I unwind by riding my mare or helping some of my church members with their ranch work.

I enjoy getting away for a day, taking the family on a day trip the zoo, a park, etc. This way, I feel like I get quality time with them, I get to leave all the work behind, and have a great time.

What is it about horses that just feeds the soul? I just got back from the barn and cleaning the stall, throwing hay and shavings, doing water, grooming, etc. and I feel so good?? Sweaty and dirty but good?

Now that I'm a grandparent, I go see my amazing grandson (almost 4 months and already walking and talking  )

My wife protects my day off. I have to clear any activity with her. I am tempted to spend it all working, so she keeps from doing that.

We also schedule a regular cruise vacation that forces us to stay away from the church.
