How Great Thou Art/ Complete Lyrics

Verse 1
O Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works
Thy hands have made,
I see the stars,
I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r throughout
The universe displayed!

Chorus
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!

Verse 2
When thru the woods
And forest glades I wander
And hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees,
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze,

Chorus
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!

Verse 3
And when I think
That God, His Son not sparing,
Sent Him to die,
I scarce can take it in -
That on the cross,
My burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died
To take away my sin!

Chorus
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!

Verse 4
When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home,
What joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim,
My God, how great Thou art!

Chorus
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
My Savior God, to Thee;
How great Thou art,
How great Thou art!

We should praise the Lord our God for not only what He has done for us, but also for who He is.

He is the Almighty, the Great I Am.

He has revealed to us in part who He is to save us from our sins, and there is much more for us to learn of Him in the future.

Sometimes I leave the TV off and just sit quietly reading His Word to remind myself of how Great He really is.

Reading the promises God made and actually seeing down through history those promises being fulfilled.

Only about half the prophesies of God have been fulfilled, with the other half yet to come.

You can literally read His Word and see down through history His promises being fulfilled, one by one.

Imagine that He has promised to adopt us into His family and give us all that He has, while the Scripture says "eye hath not seen nor ears heard that which God has prepared for those who love Him."

It's for those who will take Him at His word and believe Him. Those who can see themselves as sinners in this world and unworthy of anything from God.

To you He says, "come unto me you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

And He will give you much more than this!

The Lord demands that you recognize who you really are, and who He is, and what He's done for you.
