What is the purpose of this poll? To find out how many Calvinists are on the BB?

Well, let's see. There are 11,513 BB members and 13 have responded. Just 11,500 to go! Yes, the majority is certainly silent, but I wouldn't start counting the silent ones on your side just yet! :D :D :D

I agree. It proves exactly what my poll asking the opposite question proves. Nothing. [IMG]

    cassidy;
Do you think if there is more Calvinist than anti Calvinist this means Calvinist are somehow right and the rest wrong? [IMG]
There are more Catholics than any other however this certainly doesn't mean the majority is always right.

What I think this poll will prove is that there are only a FEW who label themselves either but those FEW are extremely vocal.

The greater question might be, How many understand what being a Calvinist means?

I have heard so many variations over the years, I question whether many even understand the term.

I do know that if I could not preach the sovereignty of God, I could not preach at all.

    Cheers,

    Jim

What do you say that "Sovereign" means?

Does it mean that nothing gets done lest the sovereign one does it?

Does it mean that there is one to whom all belongs?

Does it mean that man can do nothing and the sovereign one must do it all?

Or does it mean that there is one who has the power do direct what gets done, while others do those things? (As in a monarchy, and dictatorship)

Please do give us your definition of Sovereign.

A simple way to understand the sovereignty of God is to draw two circles, one within the other. The outer circle representing the sovereign will of God. Nothing can circumvent this circle. The inner, small circle, represents the will of man. He moves within this sphere at will, but is always responsible to the outer circle, the sovereignty of God.

Always keeping in mind the utter sinfulness of fallen man and the absolute holiness of God.

    Cheers,

    Jim

great illustration. I think that pretty much hit the nail on the head for me. I read a book by a 'BJ grad called "not by chance" I thought it was great. I agree man has free will but does not always get to EXERCISE it therefore you may not deem it really free will at all. ;)
